Central Virginia Swim Services, LLC is Charlottesville’s premier private swim lesson and small group swim lesson provider. We are a small business that has grown steadily since 2021. We provide swim lessons at Forest Lakes North, Fairview Swim and Tennis Club, Fork Union Military Academy, Key West Swim and Tennis Club, and backyard swim lessons. Kate is a dedicated small business owner with over 20 years of experience in the industry. We strive to provide excellence while building strong, meaningful relationships within our community.

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Swim Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching individuals of all ages and skill levels. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for conducting swim lessons, providing personalized instruction, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning environment for our students. This role requires excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Swim lesson instructors are responsible for planning, coordinating, and teaching swim lessons and water safety classes. Hours may include evenings and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct swim lessons for individuals and small groups, focusing on skill development, stroke technique, and water safety.
  • Evaluate swimmers' abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Create lesson plans and curriculum tailored to the specific needs and goals of each student.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pool area, including setting up equipment and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, addressing any questions or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in swimming instruction, participating in training and professional development opportunities as needed.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering confidence and self-esteem in all students.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including scheduling, attendance, and code of conduct guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a swim instructor or lifeguard preferred.
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various strokes and techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic attitude towards teaching.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
