And what will you do?

Summary:
The Master Planner is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving tools to facilitate the production forecasting, planning, and scheduling from new product request through shipment in all manufacturing locations. This will require development of capacity measurement, balancing and long-term planning of capacities across multiple manufacturing locations. The Master Planner will monitor the daily demand vs capacity in each site to determine when and if there is a need to move production orders between sites (balancing customer and internal needs). The Master Planner will support the company-wide Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) meetings to ensure sales forecast, material inventories, and production capacities align with company operating objectives, developing, and implementing corrective actions in the event that problems are detected. The role is also responsible for identifying future capacity constraints and working with the Division leadership to develop plans to address.
Core Functions:
• Creates, maintains, and updates operations capacity, planning and scheduling processes, procedures, standards and visual management tools for all sites.
• Consults with plants on production efficiency opportunities and participates in root cause activities for scheduling, planning, capacity, or delivery related problems.
• Actively monitors production requirements across all facilities, anticipating, identifying, and preventing capacity issues while helping to balance utilization of people and equipment.
• Recommends changes to Sales in the delivery schedule based on capacity schedules to offer premium service to our customers.
• Drives awareness of capacity/throughput shortcomings and opportunities through creating and maintaining data and scorecards and distributing the information to the facilities in a visual and “real-time” manner.
• Owns process for capacity management through sales, operations planning and materials requirements planning (SIOP).
• Provides input to Sales and Operations on operation plans based on capacity and volume information/data in daily, mid-term, and 5 year business planning.
• Collaborates with IT on the development or integration of systems that increase the functionality of the company’s scheduling and planning tools and other related projects.
• Interacts with the appropriate site management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding production planning.
• Establishes clear feedback loops to allow for systems, processes, and plans to continually improve over time.
• Oversees companywide production as related to the 24 hour and 3 week scheduling plans.
• Coordinates and assists each site in capacity planning activities & training.

Education & Experience: 
Minimum Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a logistics planning role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description.
