Central Ohio Technical College is Hiring an Instructor - Engineering Near Newark, OH

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a regionally accredited college or university is required. However, bachelor’s in a related technical field may be considered provided the candidate has applicable work experience.
Three (3) years of recent and relevant industry experience is required.

  • Experience in teaching, or a willingness to teach, in a variety of instructional delivery modes, including the use of instructional technologies and online learning management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or closely related field, from a regionally accredited college or university are preferred. Experience teaching in higher education preferred.
  • Hands on experience within the last five (5) years in one of the following or related areas is preferred: mechanical drive systems, vacuum systems, nanotechnology, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and fluid mechanics.
  • Training experience focused on equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting and lean operations preferred.
Summary of Duties:
This position is effective Autumn semester 2024 and is fully funded through a DOL grant for four (4) years. Continuation of the position after the four-year funding expires is contingent upon availability of funding.
This position is a member of the College’s Engineering Technology Department. This faculty member teaches a range of introductory courses, as well as advanced courses in specific program technology areas. Teaching assignments will be based in large part on the faculty member’s educational training and professional expertise. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to updating existing curriculum and programs; developing new courses, certificates, and degrees; maintaining active interaction with business and industry and with the program’s advisory committees; engaging in ongoing course- and program-level review and assessment; reviewing and recommending textbooks, software, and equipment to aid in the development of the program; advising students; supervising lab usage and maintenance; holding regularly scheduled office hours; serving on College Committees; attending department and division meetings; and being involved in the program accreditation process.

Teaching assignments may vary by mode of delivery and locations within the college’s service area.
