FRONT DESK MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

Accountable To: Corporate Compliance Officer

Position Description:

Function as receptionist. Handle the day-today activities of the office.

Qualifications:

  • One year experience in an office environment possessing phone skills, typing skills and knowledge of a fax machine and copy machine.
  • Knowledgeable regarding medical terminology
  • Good telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be dependable in attendance and job performance.
  • Functions independently within a team framework.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in gathering patient information from referral sources, and entering data in computer.

2. Prepare all new patient admission forms, adding all necessary information and placing in folder ready to go.

3. General Clerical support, i.e., word processing, copying, faxing and filing, scanning documents in computer system.

4. Answers phones take messages, directs calls to appropriate staff, and receives visitors to branch.

5. Communicate with patients and caregivers in a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner.

6. Organization of assigned workload and facilitation of its accomplishment.

7. Performs other duties as requested by Management.

8. Physician license verification monthly and upon request of staff.

9. Answer incoming phone calls, directing them to employees and taking messages as appropriate.

10. Initiating folders for new patients.

11. Closing and filing of charts of discharged patients.

12. Annual record destruction as directed by management.

13. Organization and oversight of medical records room.

14. Assists marketing, billing, pharmacy, and nursing staff in projects.

15. Call to obtain patient medical records, lab results, and other information as requested by nursing and pharmacy department.

16. Data enter demographic and medication lists from discharge instructions/medical records into CPR computer system for new referrals.

17. Collect and compile all Performance Improvement data from designated staff members by appointed deadlines. Enter data in Performance Improvement form.

18. Completes designated billing functions as needed: checks DVS numbers, follows up on claims, gathers and faxes documentation, call insurance company to check status of authorizations, confirm receipt of claims and other documents.

19. Call patients to obtain inventories, confirm delivery times as needed for the pharmacy department.

20. Assist agency pharmacist and nurses in maintaining pharmacy related medical charts including the hard copy chart and the electronic record.

21. Schedule all agency meetings, interviews, appointments as requested by Management.

22. Maintain good professional working relationships with all members of the health care team.
