Description

**This Position is Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus of $2,000**

$1,000 payable on next scheduled paycheck following 30 days of employment and

$1,000 payable at the completion of the conditional employment period which is typically six months in length.

Sign-On Bonus payment will be subject to required payroll taxes

Must work 20 or more hours per week to be eligible

Employee must be in good standing and active status to be eligible for payment

Minimum Starting Hourly Rate: $26.26

Maximum Starting Hourly Rate - Dependent on Qualifications

This is a grant-funded position. Ongoing employment is based on continued grant funding.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

MST is an intensive family- and community-based treatment program that addresses all environments that impact high risk youth - homes and families, schools and teachers, neighborhoods and friends. MST clinicians:

  • Conduct MST assessment including review of referral information, identifying, and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context. Maintains a caseload of 4-6 families.
  • Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Implement a problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the nine MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system, to maintain alignment throughout MST treatment.
  • Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.
  • Participate in all MST training, supervision, consultation, and MST Therapist development activities.
  • All services are provided in a person centered, trauma informed manner

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical treatment to families using the MST treatment model and principles. Some principles include leveraging strengths and focusing on the positive, understanding sequences of behavior, and increasing mature behavior.
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the client and family: gather information on behaviors of concern and strengths in the family and their ecology to inform conceptualization of the problem behaviors and interactions within the family’s ecological context.
  • Engage in weekly case planning and evaluation of case progress, with ongoing support from your supervisor and team members, including through group supervision.
  • Receive regular training, professional development, supervision, and consultation activities designed to help you acquire extensive clinical skills within the MST treatment model.
  • Work comfortably with a diverse community of clients
  • Learn how to effectively connect with the families in the communities served by the team.
  • Continuously work to engage the primary caregiver, family members, supports, and community agency staff(school, probation, child welfare)in change-oriented treatment.
  • Will be on-call during the week and on a rotating schedule for coverage during the weekends.
  • While only one therapist works with a particular family, the MST team facilitates a supportive work environment to cover each other’s clients for vacation/time off and support each other to maintain a work/life balance.
  • Develops and implements individualized program plans.
  • Maintains clients’ progress records.
  • Serves as liaison between clients and their families, judicial systems, and treatment providers.
  • Assists with (intra) and (inter) agency service coordination and referral concerns.
  • Must stay compliant with all required training.
  • Work behavior must be compatible with Center value statement.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptness are required for the work day or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program’s processes.
  • Professional Development - Successfully complete training required to maintain skill competency and cross training to ensure consistency across program procedures. Complete continuing education as required by professional standards and the Center.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience/Education/Licensing/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field from a four-year college or university with minimum of two years of experience working in services for families and/or youth; orMaster’s Degree in clinical or counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related subject area. Professional licensure as LPC-Associate, LMFT-Associate, or LMSW under clinical supervision required, full licensure as an LPC, LMFT, LCSW preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Master’s degree in clinical or counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related subject area.
  • Professional licensure as an LP, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT (LPHA).
  • Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic, and functional) family therapies
  • Therapy with children and adults using cognitive-behavioral techniques
  • Couples therapy usingbehaviorally-basedapproaches
  • Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth’s natural ecology (i.e., family, peer, school, and neighborhood)
  • Collaboration and partnership with community agencies
  • Previous work providing in-home or community-based therapy services
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Central Counties Services incorporates principles of trauma-informed care, which includes cultural sensitivity, in all areas of service delivery. All job descriptions include the responsibility to learn about and implement trauma-informed practices within the scope of work for the position.
  • Knowledge of community resources; of case management principles, objectives, standards, and methods; and of program policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assess client needs, to coordinate client services, to monitor program effectiveness and to assign/monitor/supervise the work of others.
  • Knowledge of mental illness and emotional components of physical illness; of rehabilitation and psychotherapeutic methods; of casework principles; of community resources; and of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of clinical work.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize computer programs, e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Skill in interviewing.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk effectively within job requirements.
  • Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to effectively handle potentially aggressive behavior in a positive manner.

Relationship skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work behavior must be compatible with Center value statement and Policies and Procedure Manual contributing to an environment of problem solving, building trust, conflict resolution, and customer service.
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work and implement directives without constant supervision.
  • Ability to present a professional appearance and conduct when representing the center.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively with supervisor, individuals, co-workers, and groups of persons at all levels of activity, contributing to a strong spirit of teamwork.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other agencies and the general public using tact, courtesy and good judgment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record to travel to client’s homes and possibly transport multiple clients at once.
  • Regular attendance and reliability is critical to business operations.
