Central Catholic High School is Hiring an Assistant Principal for Student Success Near Lawrence, MA

SUMMARY

The Assistant Principal for Student Success is the lead administrator responsible for good order, discipline and safety during school hours and at all school activities and for ensuring that all teachers and other educational staff fulfill their duties and obligations in this regard. In consultation with the Principal, the Assistant Principal for Student Success carries out school policy and procedures and assists the Principal with any duties and activities necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the school. This is a full time, year-round position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Enforces all disciplinary policies and procedures outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook.

2. Oversees the student detention process and disciplinary probation.

3. Maintains good discipline and order during school hours and at school activities by enforcing discipline policies outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook.

4. Determines the penalties to be imposed for student disciplinary infractions, consistent with Student-Parent Handbook.

5. Communicates with parents regarding student behavior and consequences.

6. Ensures that disciplinary and other school policies are followed in all school-related transportation systems including buses, use of student automobiles, parking privileges.

7. Consults with teachers and guidance counselors to determine effective strategies to improve individual student behavior.

8. Recommends to the Principal in matters of student suspension or expulsion.

9. Notifies teachers of student suspension and the resultant academic penalties in collaboration with the Academic Dean.

10. Enforces attendance policies and procedures outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook.

11. Ensures accurate and consistent attendance reporting by faculty.

12. Determines excused and unexcused absences.

13. Handles requests for anticipated absences and dismissals from school.

14. Determines excused and unexcused tardiness and assigns appropriate disciplinary consequences for unexcused tardiness.

15. Handles cases of student truancy and imposes disciplinary consequences consistent with the Student-Parent Handbook.

16. Communicates regularly with parents on matters of student attendance and tardiness.

17. Monitors and follows-up on student classroom attendance throughout the school day.

18. Communicates with parents for students absent without parental notification to the school.

19. Organizes, manages and coordinates the application process and distribution of parking passes with main office staff.

20. Organizes the distribution and supervision of student lockers.

21. Supervises the cafeteria during the lunch period.

22. Directs and supervises the school grounds and parking lot in collaboration with the Campus Safety Liaison and Director of Campus Safety.

23. Assists the Principal in such areas as school calendar, handbooks, student assemblies, field trips, etc.

24. Shares responsibility with the Athletic Director and other administration team members for student behavior at school activities and athletic events.

25. Coordinates the textbook ordering process including obtaining textbooks for Montagne Scholars and children of faculty/staff members.

26. Manages inventory of gently worn CCHS dress code materials available for students in need.

27. Develops discipline-related policies and procedures to be used by the faculty and ensures faculty compliance with these.

28. Consults with the Principal in the renewal of teacher contracts.

29. Maintains teacher attendance records and issues daily substitutions for absent teachers.

30. Coordinates and supervises the formation of the master schedule for students, faculty & staff.

31. Coordinates and supervises the assignment of supervisory duty periods and prep periods.

32. Supports efforts and initiatives developed by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

33. Supports efforts and initiatives developed by the Campus Ministry Office.

34. Supports efforts and initiatives developed by the Administrative Assistant/Attendance Clerk.

35. Supports efforts and initiatives developed by the Campus Safety Liaison under the direction of the Director of Campus Safety.

36. Supports and participates in the efforts of the School Safety Work Group.

37. Coordinates appropriate services which will promote the success of the international students.

38. Coordinates appropriate services which will promote the success of students in the Montagne Scholars Project.

39. Attends regular administrative team meetings, advises the President and Principal, and carries out the decisions of the chief school officers.

40. Other duties as assigned that are consistent with the foregoing responsibilities and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SUPERVISION OF OTHER EMPLOYEES

1. All teachers and other educational personnel are subordinate to the Assistant Principal for Student Success who is particularly responsible for ensuring that staff members fulfill their duties and obligations regarding classroom management and the enforcement of student behavior policies.

2. Oversees and coordinates daily coverage assignments of the Building Based Educator(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in a teaching or leadership role at the secondary level.

2. Masters degree in educational administration or related field.

3. Understand and is supportive of the Marist philosophy as well as CCHS policies & procedures.

4. Experience and proficiency in use of school management software, Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.

5. Ability to develop and monitor practices that provide a safe learning environment.

6. Ability to hold students accountable to high standards while maintaining an orderly school climate promoting respect for all.

7. Exemplary communication skills with faculty, staff, students and parents.

8. Exemplary organizational skills.

9. Ability to make decisions under pressure.

10. High level of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity.

11. Ability to direct and supervise subordinates while maintaining effective working relationships among faculty and staff.

12. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
