Central California Alliance for Health is Hiring a Health Equity Program Manager Near Merced, CA

We have an opportunity to join the Alliance as the Health Equity Program Manager in the Health Equity Department. 

ABOUT THIS JOB

The Health Equity Program Manager’s function and focus is a new body of work at the Alliance, having just hired our first Chief Health Equity Officer earlier this year. Reporting to the Chief Health Equity Officer, as the first Health Equity Program Manager you’ll have the unique opportunity to help establish and support the Alliance’s health equity and population health framework, in addition to helping define, implement and evaluate strategies to reduce disparities in clinical care and quality outcomes. You’ll help ensure that our programs and practices align with state, federal, and relevant accreditation requirements.

We are excited to engage in this work and are looking for a collaborative program manager who is passionate and strategic about addressing root causes of health inequities, such as systemic racism, social drivers of health, and infrastructure barriers. You’ll partner and collaborate with Alliance staff and our network of providers to take programs from concept to design to ground action. Working cross-functionally, you’ll support the implementation of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) training program, ensuring that all required internal and external entities receive training and that the training materials and content are up to date with current standards of practice, evidence-based, and include best practices for serving members, and potential members. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE 

  • A highly skilled communicator, possessing an exceptional blend of written, verbal, and presentation skills, with strength in relationship-building
  • An adept collaborator, skilled at working cross-functionally with various stakeholders within the organization and in the community
  • Has experience in program development and program evaluation, particularly health equity or DEIB programs 
  • Can manage large projects and operationalize ideas, from inception to implementation
  • Is highly organized and has a proven ability to manage competing priorities, aligning them strategically with the company's objectives for optimal efficiency and success
  • Is comfortable working in evolving environments and understands change management 
  • Experience in research, statistics and/or analyzing policies is a plus

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Reporting to the Chief Health Equity Officer, this position:

  • Develops and manages the operationalization of health equity strategies and performs program planning and design, and operational program management
  • Works collaboratively with all Alliance departments to ensure successful implementation and ongoing management of health equity and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives
  • Engages with external partners and provides operational support related to health equity

  • Knowledge of:
    • The principles and practices of program development, implementation, management, and evaluation
    • The principles and practices of research, analysis, and reporting methods
    • Healthcare regulatory agencies and processes
    • The sociological and economic factors that affect community health
    • The principles and practices of developing and implementing health improvement strategies to address social determinants of health
  • Ability to:
    • Act as a subject matter expert and technical resource, explain regulations, processes, and programs related to area of assignment, and provide guidance regarding complex health equity and DEIB issues to all levels of staff across the organization
    • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, accurately collect, manage, and analyze data, evaluate research, identify issues, offer recommendations and potential consequences
    • Manage the development and implementation of projects, systems, programs, policies, procedures, and workflows
    • Provide leadership, facilitate meetings, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program objectives
    • Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders in a politically sensitive context complicated by competing perspectives and interests
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Social Services, Nursing or a related field
    • A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience within a health care organization, which included program development and project management responsibilities and some experience managing or supporting health improvement strategies to address social determinants of health, (a Master’s degree may substitute for two years of the required experience); or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying

OTHER INFORMATION

  • We are in a hybrid work environment and we anticipate that the interview process will take place remotely via Microsoft Teams.
  • While some staff may work full-time telecommuting schedules, attendance at quarterly company-wide events or department meetings will be expected.
  • In-office or in-community presence may be required for some positions and is dependent on business needs. Details about this can be reviewed during the interview process.

The full compensation range for this position is listed by location below. 
The actual compensation for this role will be determined by our compensation philosophy, analysis of the selected candidate's qualifications (direct or transferrable experience related to the position, education or training), as well as other factors (internal equity, market factors, and geographic location).
