Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY :

Oversees the collection process activities with partnered vendors in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, standards, and applicable laws under the direction of the Leasing Manager.

In addition, will be cross trained to provide administrative and analytical support in other areas of the department as needed, and will conduct activities in accordance with the corporate code of conduct, Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Review and analyze daily past due reports. Summarize weekly for department manager.
• Identify, evaluate, and resolve reasons for delinquency.
• Record all vendor collection efforts on a spreadsheet for regular bank management review.
• Stay in compliance with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
• Interact with collection / repossession vendor teams and outside legal counsel via emails, meetings, and phone calls.
• Oversee production of all repossession and sale notifications required by law that are sent to borrower.
• Track net charge offs and recoveries over time and analyze by credit score and debt to income ratio.
• Prepare / update daily Off Lease and Repossession Report for management review.
• Interact and meet regularly with bank’s outside legal counsel to ascertain status of pending matters.
• Prepare month-end Off Lease and Repossession Report for bank’s Board of Directors.
• Work with vendor to handle customer questions, complaints & discrepancies regarding payments, billings, repossessions, etc.
• Assist department manager in producing Month-End Update for management.
• Update annual credit relationship analysis memos (CRAM) for all commercial lines of credit in auto leasing.
• Completes ad-hoc analyses of entire leasing portfolio regarding profitability, net yield, and credit score.
• Perform other duties as business needs dictate as directed by department management.
• Assist with retail and commercial bankcard (Credit Card) collection & delinquency reporting.
• Review and gain familiarity with lease documents / contracts.

Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

• Bachelors’ degree or equivalent combination of educational experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• 1-3 years prior debt collection experience preferred.
• Banking / financial services knowledge is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant debt collection legal requirements.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, especially Excel.
• Possess good judgment skills. Ability to make independent decisions within prescribed guidelines, research and solve problems, work independently, handle confidential information, and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Excellent verbal, listening and communication skills. Strong customer relations skills and ability to work with employees and customers in a cooperative manner.

Ability and desire to work as part of a team, and with people of diverse backgrounds.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to assume additional responsibilities / duties / projects as they arise.
• Ability to operate office equipment including PC’s, calculators, telephones, voice mail, copy and fax machines.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
