The role of the Chaplain is to minister to the spiritual and religious needs of the entire hospital community: patients and their families, employees, medical personnel, and other members of the Spiritual Care Department, regardless of age, color, religion, sex, or sexual preference. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.

Schedule: 

• Part-time | 32 hours per two weeks | Flexible schedule between working Monday – Friday

What you’ll do:

• Works in concert with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healing professions to provide for the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of patients, families, and staff.
• Gives particular care to those in special need and distress in their cancer process via visits in the clinic or phone calls.
• May assist in arranging and providing sacramental and ritual services.
• Serves as a mentor to students in our Clinical Pastoral Education program.
• Collaborates with local religious leaders and outreach programs as appropriate.
• Carries out responsibilities of tasks delegated by Director of Spiritual Care Department within the scope of practice for the position. 
• Lives, communicates, and supports the mission and values of CentraCare.
• Provide individual visits to patients and families, round with staff and provide individual visits, and provide trainings and support groups to patients, families, and staff.

What you’ll have:

• Bachelor's degree in theology/religion, counseling, the humanities, healthcare, education with two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or Master’s degree in theology/religion, counseling, humanities, healthcare, or education with one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
• Membership and certification in National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) preferred.
• 1 years of proven experience providing psychosocial or spiritual support required. 
• Familiarity and comfort with variety of sacred texts as well as spiritual and value orienting systems of diverse individuals.
• Continuing education to update professional skills and knowledge by participation in training programs, seminars, and workshops.
• Documentation attesting to skills in working with adults, children, and adolescents.
