Overview
Assist in the day-to day operation of a high fidelity simulation environment focused on inter-professional practice and patient outcomes. This includes providing technical support for all simulation operations including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, and multimedia peripherals. Serves as a simulator operator with appropriate healthcare provider guidance. Communicates with Centra IT and equipment vendors regarding troubleshooting and systems problems. Maintains records and data collection. Assists in developing and implementing policies and preparing documents related to Accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Participates in outreach programs to promote healthcare professions.
Responsibilities
Serves as a simulation operator with appropriate healthcare provider guidance by programming, testing and running scenarios with simulation faculty, assuring facility and equipment are set up for simulation sessions
Assists faculty with preparing for and conducting simulation-based learning experiences
Work with simulation faculty to provider support for all standardized patient events as needed
Makes recommendations to improve the setup and presentation of each simulation session based upon available space, equipment, supplies
Provides technical support for simulation manikins and equipment
Interfaces with IT and/or equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and systems problems; assists with maintenance record of repairs of simulation manikin and equipment
Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, including basic theory, design and implementation. Participates in technical training as necessary; attends conferences to stay current with simulation technology
Maintains records of warranty information, purchase and expiration dates, serial numbers, etc.
Assists in developing and implementing policies related to equipment use by internal and external groups
Assists with development of a competency documentation plan to ensure that appropriate training is completed simulation faculty
Participates in career fairs, educational forums, open houses, and other appropriate outreach activities to promote healthcare professions
Provide input on the evaluation of new technologies to enhance the delivery of clinical simulation
Support data collection and reporting efforts
Assists in preparing documents and processes related to Accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time
Qualifications
Required Education: Associates Degree in Computer/Information Technology, Physical Science, or a healthcare-related field
Preferred Education: Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer/Information Technology or in a healthcare-related field
Required Experience: Familiarity with medical terminology or medical background. Minimum two (2) years of experience with computer/information technology or medical field
Preferred Experience: Significant clinical simulation experience. Technology work experience managing, operating, and supporting computer hardware and software applications in a networked computing environment. Ability to develop, maintain, and update data bases using a variety of approaches
