Overview
EMT administers life support care and transportation to patients in pre-hospital, intra-facility and inter-facility settings as authorized and directed by the Manager of Paramedicine Services and the Operational Medical Director. Performs care appropriate to the patient population served, within scope of practice, and meeting daily routine patient care needs. Always focused on quality of care and customer service.
Responsibilities
Assesses nature and extent of illness / injury to establish and prioritize medical careGathers and submits appropriate patient data necessary for continued treatmentCompletes reimbursement documentation and submits at the end of every shiftChecks assigned vehicle at the beginning of every shift and documents findings on the vehicle check listPerforms routine maintenance checks daily, such as fluids, tires, general working operations of lights, sirens, radios, etc. and reports any issues to supervisor and maintenance technicianResponds to patient and other Centra department's requests for assistance promptlyServes on committeesAssists unit staff in answering calls, ordering and procuring supplies or equipment, and requesting servicesResponds to organizational emergency situations as requiredApply and share new knowledge, skills, and information at workParticipates in continuing education and job-related in services obtaining a minimum of hours of continuing education each yearMay perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time
Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma / GEDPreferred Education: Associates DegreePreferred Experience: Pre-hospital or inter-facility transport experienceRequired Certifications and Licensures: Virginia EMT Certification. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR. VAVRS or VDFP EVOC. Class II FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700. PHTLS within the first (1) year of employment. AMLS within the first (1) year of employment. Hazardous Materials Awareness within the first (1) year of employment. Needs to be completed prior to the end of the orientation period and before being released to drive solo. Transfer, Stair, and Gait Training. Fall prevention training. Bed MobilityPreferred Certifications and Licensures: National Registry EMT
