Overview

The Surgical Analyst will be responsible for facilitating, identifying, and helping to design analytics support for Surgical Services. This includes tracking and documenting the governance of data requests specific to Surgical Services, owning and utilizing analytics tools specific to the Surgical Services enterprise. This individual will work collaboratively with multiple cross functional teams throughout the health system.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement and maintain surgical services analyses, reports, scorecards, and dashboards with a laser focus on accuracy
Interpret results using a variety of analytical techniques and tools
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data
Filter and clean data by reviewing raw data extracts to locate and correct issues that can impact data integrity/accuracy
Work directly with customers both internal and external to Surgical Services to develop/establish analytical requirements when data is requested
Acquire data from multiple data sources to produce operationally actionable and patient centered analytics
Collaborates with Surgical Services Leadership team to establish and track key performance indicators required for process improvement
Prepares and presents data related to identified opportunities for improvement
Achieves business impact through report writing execution
Participates in the development of department's policies and procedures when needed
Acts as a representative for Surgical Services and collaborates with the others within the analytics community at Centra
Monitors trends in operational measures for Surgical Services
Establishes and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders and serves as an articulate member of Surgical Services with all audiences. Works closely with various levels of physician and organizational leadership to align and support initiatives
Provides guidance and support to work groups and individuals seeking surgical related data elements
Supports, establishes, and educates Surgical Services on self-service analytics when possible
Ensures timely follow-up for specific patient safety and/or risk events/concerns
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelors Degree in a health-related field, business, or information technology
Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters Degree in health-related field
Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data and analytics (healthcare or a related field)
Preferred Experience: Previous EMR implementation experience. Oral and written communication skills. Effective in implementation, execution, and evaluation of highly complex processes. Operational and contingency planning. Risk and time management abilities
