Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Functions as a part time RN/LPN utilizing the nursing process with performing comprehensive psychiatric /mental health assessments. Evaluates mental status and refers clients to other treatment providers when necessary. Assumes primary responsibility and accountability for one's nursing practices as defined in the Tennessee Code of Nursing Practice, as it pertains to a licensed practical nurse and functions under the supervision of an RN or physician.

• This role will accept RN and LPN candidates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs comprehensive psychiatric /mental health assessments, evaluates mental status and refers to other treatment providers when necessary.
• Monitors changes in health status, including but not limited to vital signs, weights, nutritional status and disease states.
• Administers and monitors medications as ordered. Monitors medication effectiveness, side effects and compliance. May perform assessments for any side effects/EPS.
• Addresses medication issues with patients when necessary. Provides proper education and guidance as necessary.
• Provides healthcare education to patients and/or families or staff as assigned.
• Works in collaboration with other members of the treatment team and in collaboration with external health care providers as necessary.
• Completes clinical documentation within organization's policy standards.
• Maintains all mandatory trainings up to date.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must have the ability to work cooperatively with all staff and physicians and function as a valuable member of the treatment team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required

Years of Experience

Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year experience in psychiatric or equivalent mental health related nursing experience is preferred

Certification/Licensure

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Tennessee OR Registered Nurse (RN)

Position details

Work hours are estimated as Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 7:30am-4:00pm with a 30 minute lunch, and a clinical supervision meeting on the first Thursday of every month from 9am-10am.
