Job Description: SUMMARY OF POSITION This will be a position embedded within the Bartholomew County Recovery/ Drug Court and Family Court and will work with other treatment providers in the community. Provides evidence-based individual interventions in community settings to develop trusting relationships with clients. Engage with clients so that they more freely discuss substance and mental health symptoms and its effects on physical health and daily functioning. Aid clients in setting their own goals for treatment, as well as plans to abstain from substance use or other maladaptive coping strategies and to learn healthy coping skills. Build rapport and a therapeutic relationship with clients to introduce them to all the elements of healthy recovery. Assist clients with linkage to community agencies and then facilitate communication, care coordination, etc. Coordinate care of clients with the court team by having open communication about progress, concerns, crises, and other important information. Opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team that includes a public defender, a prosecuting attorney, community corrections, probation, a court coordinator, and a judge. A problem solving court setting allows for fast-pace learning of many different sides of the criminal justice system as well as develops communication skill sets with people that all come from different educational backgrounds and work experiences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitates client’s use of family, social and community resources; acting as an advocate with external resources, provider agencies, self-help programs and court participation. Provide individual psycho-educational, addictions/ mental health, daily living skills Develop, implement and monitor clinically and fiscally responsible individualized care/transition plans. Participate in Problem Solving Court treatment team meetings for the purpose of summarizing, reviewing and developing client’s treatment goals, progress and use of services. Maintain necessary communications and reporting with referral sources and other involved parties as approved by the client; provides testimony in court concerning client’s behavior and condition when requested. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Coordinate care of clients with the court team by having open communication about progress, concerns, crises, and other important information. Assist clients with linkage to community agencies and then facilitate communication, care coordination, etc. Key Performance Indicators Meet clients as often that meets their level of need. Complete clinical documentation within 24 hours of the service provided. Complete weekly compliance reports of clients who are on that week’s court docket. Monthly report of activates relates to the position with the court. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Must have a valid driver’s license. All other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Education Level Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred in psychology, social work, or a related field. Years of Experience A minimum of two years of documented experience working and/or volunteering within the behavioral health, criminal justice, or social services field can be considered in place of degree. Certification/Licensure Certification as a peer or peer recovery coach is preferred but not required. Personal experience with recovery from substances is preferred.
