Centers for Youth and Families is Hiring a MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN/QBHP - THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITIES Near Little Rock, AR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

A. Assist with Daily Living Activities
1. Conducts groups as assigned under the supervision and direction of a licensed professional
2. Daily assists in maintenance of therapeutic milieu, e.g., uses reflective listening, non-punitive redirection, non-judgmental language, self-esteem building responses, and have strengths focus, etc.
3. Provide interventions based on the treatment plan, behavior management plans and/or medication management plans.
4. Utilizes a person-centered, recovery approach.
5. Role model to teach social and functional skills.
6. Plans, organize and collaborate in educational and enrichment activities groups/activities to improve client functional skills and quality of life.
7. Eat with and role model social skills in the dining area and assist with diet management, nutritional interventions and medical assistance within the QBHP scope of practice.
8. Conduct Observation of Self Administration of Medication when delegated and document on the client medication list.
9. Instructs and supervises the cleaning of rooms, living areas, teach personal care and laundry skills.
10. Ensure a trauma sensitive culture and a milieu of safety.

B. Documentation

1. Document intervention services for assigned clients which may include rehabilitation day notes, adult life skills, shift notes, non-billable progress notes, etc.
2. Review for safety in bedrooms and daily document concerns on shift note or email to Program Manager or 2facilities depending on the safety risk.
3. Inventories and submits request for personal hygiene articles and clothing
4. Completes forms/reports based on events:
  • Incident Report
  • Property Form
5. Transportation Log
6. Method(s) of Assessment: ? Observation ? Record Review ? Test ? Data Collection & Report
C. Preforms Emergency Safety Interventions as necessary:

1. Uses verbal de-escalation skills as taught in CPI to deescalate situations before the client becomes a risk to themselves or others
2. Monitors situation and when a client is a danger to themselves, or others uses CPI to place a client in a hold until the no longer a danger to themselves or others
3. Immediately notifies nurse or on call nurse if there are injuries
4. Uses radios to call for assistance.
5. Completes all required paperwork for the ESI

D. Drives Agency Vehicle:

1. Drives agency vehicle to transport residents, e.g., field trips, extracurricular activities, medical appointment
2. Complies with traffic laws
3. Ensures use of seat belts for all passengers
4. Utilizes shortest routes.
5. Conducts only agency business on outings

E. Attends Meetings:

1. Attends treatment plan meeting for assigned clients/submits paperwork
2. Attends staffing(s) of assigned clients
3. Attends direct care meetings.
4. Attends other meetings as required or assigned.

F. Interpersonal Skills:

1. Focuses on the situation, issues or behavior, not on the person
2. Maintains the self-esteem and self-confidence of others
3. Maintains constructive relationships with employees, peers, managers.
4. Takes initiative to make things better.
5. Leads by example

G. Reliability:

1. Attends mandated training
2. Demonstrates ongoing skill improvement
3. Adheres to scheduled work hours and attends meeting assigned
4. Meets deadlines
5. Maintains satisfactory attendance record
6. Manages own time to get work done according to schedules or deadlines
7. Keeps supervisor informed
8. Complies with agency policies.
9. Participates in CQI teams as assigned.
10. Adheres to rules for confidentiality


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Education or equivalent
  • College degree preferred

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and understand therapeutic interventions taught.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.

Ability to successfully perform all ESI taught in CPI.

Ability to successfully perform CPR as taught in training.
