Job Description

This is a highly skilled provider position involving all basic aspects of pre- and post-natal obstetrical care as well as basic gynecology practice. The physician assumes the responsibility of providing comprehensive general medical care, including consultative services, as deemed necessary. They will be required to participate as part of the on-call team which will be arranged so that appropriate coverage is available 24-hours a day for all specialties. The quality of care will be in keeping with the standards of the appropriate national organization. The physician shall be responsible for maintaining current medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic acumen. High moral character, ethics, and conduct are compulsory. Support, mentoring, and oversight of Advanced Practice Providers and Novice Physicians is an expectation.

Essential Functions:

Patient Management

  • Provides proper medical care as allowed by medical training and licensure.
  • Assesses and triages patients
  • Elicits histories and conducts physicals.
  • Provides preventive medical care per standard of care.
  • Provides consultative services for peers.
  • Prescribes and dispenses medications and treatments following the appropriate standard of care guidelines.
  • Evaluates and cares for any patient concerned about pregnancy.
  • Handles all aspects of pre- and post-natal care.
  • Evaluates and cares for routine gynecological disorders as per protocol.
  • Performs pap smears, gynecology cultures in addition to screening histories and physical on any female patient.
  • Prescribes various forms of birth control and perform procedures such as IUD insertion and removal, implants, etc., as training and protocols describe.
  • Orders appropriate labs, EKGs, x-rays and be able to recognize abnormal findings.
  • Initiates requests for consultation or referral with appropriate professionals, clinics, or other health care resources as indicated.

Patient Education

  • Educates patient on all aspects of health self-maintenance.
  • Educates patients as to family planning options, safe sexual practices, including birth control and prevention of STDs, pap smears, breast exam, and health maintenance.
  • Provides short-term, individual, or family teaching as appropriate.
  • Assists with development and implementation of patient educational materials.

Electronic Health Record (EHR)

  • Accurately and efficiently enters documentation into the EHR.
  • Ensures all EHR documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Cosigns charts as required timely.
  • Ensures all charts are closed out in Athena timely.
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of the EHR
  • Order entry and workflow
  • Workflow dashboard
  • Document and Task Management
  • Problem flowsheets
  • Troubleshooting documents in the clinical inbox

QI/QA

  • Actively participates in quality improvement projects.
  • Participates in ongoing peer review of medical records, active participation in committee assignments, and QA/QI activities.
  • Participates in and presents Continuing Medical Education activities.
  • Complies with Center policy and procedures promotes and complies with NCQA PCMH standards of care.
  • Assists in identification, evaluation, and intervention of quality issues in the clinical setting.
  • Participates in program required committees.

Leadership

  • Maintains ethical and professional standards deemed appropriate by peers.
  • Supervises nursing and clinical staff activities.
  • Provide supervision, education, and direct assistance when appropriate to APRN/Midwife staff, medical students and residents, as reasonable, considering the provider’s capabilities and training.
  • Performs other related duties as indicated or when requested by the Chief Medical Officer or their designee.
  • Assists with management of patient flow to assure effective and efficient care is provided to all patients
  • Covers for other providers within the scope of licensure as needed.

Other

  • Appropriately applies patient evaluation and management processes to clinical situations.
  • Always maintains use of universal precautions.
  • Completes Daily/Day end activities as assigned.
  • Completes all required training and attends meetings as assigned.
  • Protects/observes patient confidentiality per policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to violent/abusive situations, bomb threats, fire and emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications: (Experience/Skills/Abilities/Education/Certifications):

  • Graduation from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy and three (3) years of approved residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
  • Current with and continuous maintenance of all required CME credits.
  • Has a minimum of 2 years clinical experience or equivalent working in a medical practice.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the State of Florida
  • Able to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Technical Skills including intermediate typing skills
  • Knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of current equipment/software.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Office 365 programs including Outlook and Word
  • Possession and maintenance of Board Certification in area of specialty (Internal Medicine/Family Practice)

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
  • Stand or walk, often for prolonged periods.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • See, speak, and hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: General Medical Office/Clinic and/or Hospital

Supervisory Responsibilities: APRN. Midwives, Medical assistants, novice physicians, and students (as reasonable).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: Up to $250,000.00 per year
