CenterPlace Health, Inc. is Hiring a Dental Hygienist Near Sarasota, FL

SUMMARY:

This position requires professional dental hygiene services consisting of prophylaxis, root planning, curettage and delegated remediable tasks. This position may also require the promotion and establishment of population-based dental preventive and educational programs and related dental public health activities. This position is under the direct supervision of the Dental Director. Incumbent is responsible for securing the information set for the purpose of protecting confidentiality, data integrity and appropriate access per CPH policies and procedures. Assure privacy procedures are followed and documented per HIPAA requirements and standards pursuant with CenterPlace Health, Inc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides preventive and professional dental hygienist duties.
  • Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins.
  • Applies preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
  • Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening; using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession.
  • Takes and develops radiographs for charting conditions of decay and disease.
  • Prepares patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping patient.
  • Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient’s oral health.
  • Removes calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth.
  • Documents dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical and dental histories and charting in patient records.
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and providing reminders of time of next dental hygiene visit.
  • Provides information to the patient such as pre-op and post-op instructions
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of instruments and equipment including central vacuum/air/water units, cabinets, and lavatories.
  • Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
  • Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Lubricates handpieces on a routine basis.

Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.

  • Understand all HIPAA and OSHA requirements and infection control procedures
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to local and state regulations regarding infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drugs and oxygen supply, and directory of emergency numbers.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Promote, develop, and conduct community and school-based preventive and educational dental programs.
  • Coordinates activities related to evaluation or preventive programs involving the use of topical fluorides and other oral hygiene procedures for community groups, schools, daycare centers, and geriatric centers.
  • Develop Knowledge of Electronic Dental Record and other organizational recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS):

  • Dental Hygiene degree from an accredited school (RDH)
  • Valid Florida license to practice dental hygiene.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g., OSHA and HIPAA)
  • CPR Certification prior to or shortly after position is attained
  • Able to communicate with patients, parents/guardians, all staff, and others clearly and effectively.
  • A patient and friendly personality
  • Ability to use a computer proficiently.
  • Ability to understand and use Electronic Dental Records.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office (including, but not limited to Office 365, Outlook Email, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS):

  • Bilingual skills are desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, often for prolonged periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and see, speak, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
