Center of Hope Foundation is seeking qualified people 17 years old or older to become camp counselors for the upcoming Summer.

This position would start Mid-June and run until late August 2024.

Job Summary

Camp Counselors work directly with campers attending the Agency’s Integrated Summer Camp, primarily children with disabilities, providing all levels of assistance and supervision needed.

Environment

Camp is held primarily outside, with inside space available for inclement weather. Time will also be spent in water spaces, including pools and lakes. Outside terrain may include sand, dirt and uneven terrain. Temperatures and weather conditions will vary. Inside space may not include air conditioning.

Campers may engage in behaviors that are harmful to themselves or others; staff are provided with the resources and training to deescalte these situations safely and effectively.

Essential Functions:

· Develop an understanding of the campers’ needs, goals and levels of assistance

· Provide assistance to campers in Activities of daily Living (ADLS) Skills, which may include meal preparation, personal care, toileting, safety awareness and appropriate social interactions

· Actively engage campers in activities throughout the day

· Ensure safety of campers at all times, which may require physical intervention in emergency situations

The qualification listed below must support the essential functions and serve as the primary criteria for selecting candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

-Ability to meet regulatory requirements in all background checks (CORI, fingerprinting, SORI)

Minimum Competencies

Ensure that communication with Supervisor is maintained and all relevant issues relayed in a timely manner.

Abide by all camp policies and procedures.

Present as a positive role model for campers.

Responsible for additional duties as assigned to follow the mission of the Center of Hope Foundation

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
