The Center for Women and Families - Kitchen Assistant (As Needed)

The Center for Women and Families is looking for warm, caring, and empathetic individuals driven by a desire to help others! The Kitchen Assistant role help to move toward our vision of thriving survivors and safe communities!

The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assisting in the activities of the kitchen and dining facilities of The Center to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, nutrition, safety, and sanitation standards. The Center serves approximately 33,000 hot meals per year.

Responsibilities:

• Exhibits welcoming, customer focused manner when serving clients.
• Follows posted procedures and protocols for daily operation of kitchen and dining facilities.
• Completes required daily prepping for upcoming meals and food production process.
• Assists the Supervisor of Food Services with inventory needs due to high percentage of donated/acquired foods.
• Dresses appropriately for safety and cleanliness in the kitchen area.
• Implements trauma informed practices where appropriate.
• Practices healthy professional boundaries with clients.
• Attends trainings and meetings as required.

Requirements:

Certification: Within 60 days of hire, must become certified in food service through the ServSafe training with the Jefferson County Health Department.

The Center requires the basic round of COVID vaccinations and highly recommends boosters.
