Are you a seasoned professional looking to make an even bigger impact? We invite you to join us today!POSITION: Community EducatorCV is seeking a Community Educator to join our team! The Community Educator provides educational sessions to children, youth, and young adults on topics related to all forms of sexual assault/violence, intimate partner / domestic violence, bullying, and harassment in a variety of settings including within schools and the community. This position serves as the liaison to selected schools and community based organizations for organizational response to sexual assault/violence, intimate partner/DV matters, as well as provides education on corresponding prevention strategies. Position also provides individual counseling and crisis counseling services, facilitates support groups and presents educational / awareness sessions to general audiences in the community.
Responsibilities:
  • Participates in school-based and community-based programs for preventing teen / young adult relationship violence and promoting safe and healthy relationships, healthy and respectful interactions with peers; Provisions of programs include educational presentations as well as group counseling to students engaged in the program
  • Provides intake sessions, crisis counseling and ongoing counseling for youth who have experienced dating/domestic or sexual violence and youth demonstrating abusive behavior toward peers
  • Provides information, referral and direct support for youth regarding child protection, law enforcement, health and mental health, and other issues
  • Coordinates leadership teams for youth in each assigned school or organization, if appropriate, including training, meeting facilitation and project development
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with school and community-based organization’s personnel
  • Provides training and assistance to professionals working with youth on ways to model positive healthy values, attitudes and behavior and the dynamics of intimate partner / sexual violence
  • Provides psycho-educational information and trainings to individuals, families, communities and community-based organizations in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, community violence, conflict resolution and restorative practices
  • Provides coverage of community-based education/presentations and/or events
  • Assists in the development of program curriculum and materials
  • Provides timely and accurate required client and service data utilizing CV’s established client database and adhering to client record keeping standards
  • Provides and contributes to all assigned reports, grants and statistics as required by CV and/or the various funding sources
  • Participates as an active member with all client focused staffing, trainings, in-services, and department and organization meetings
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related field
  • MS Office proficiency, strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while effectively meeting deadlines in a fast paced and evolving organization
  • Oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to interface professionally with internal and external groups
  • Strong commitment to support the organization’s mission and the ability to work in a diverse atmosphere with sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony
