Center for Teen Empowerment is Hiring an Operations Manager (experienced) Near Boston, MA

The Center for Teen Empowerment, Inc. (TE) inspires young people and the adults who work with them to think deeply about the most difficult social problems in their schools and communities, and gives them the tools they need to work with others in creating significant positive change. Through a unique youth organizing program implemented in Boston and Somerville, MA, and Rochester, NY, youth leaders mobilize their peers to create meaningful community change and facilitate mutually respectful relationships between youth and adults.

Salary: $50,000-$60,000 based on experience

The Operations Manager is an important part of facilitating the ability of TE’s staff to make the work at the youth organizing sites happen. Working with the Director of Operations, this person handles a variety of operations, administrative and accounting functions. This position is full time, with full benefits.

  • Be the primary contact with outsourced accounting firm, including:
  • Enter invoices in Bill.com and applying general ledger codes
  • Collect receipts to be used in reconciling credit card accounts
  • Prepare deposits and sending copies to accountants
  • Create invoices as needed
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems
  • Ensure compliance of all financial transactions with organization’s internal controls
  • Set up new employees on payroll and assist with maintaining personnel files according to company policy.
  • Use online system (Insperity) to run payroll biweekly, including interfacing with TE staff and with Insperity payroll staff to ensure all information is correct.
  • Maintain office equipment and services (telephones, copiers, printers, computers, etc.) directly and through outside vendors
  • Serve as primary point of contact for various vendors and landlords
  • Manage the administrative office space
  • Assist program staff at all TE locations with space and equipment needs
  • Keep track of supplies and place orders as needed
  • Coordinate large mailings 3-4 times per year
  • Manage reception, including answering phones and directing calls, replying to general emails, greeting visitors, keeping the waiting area presentable, etc.
  • Assist with event planning logistics and staffing
  • Other duties of a similar nature, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Able to work under deadlines and to prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience submitting an organization's payroll and working with third-party payroll vendors (Insperity, Paychex, ADP, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years in a bookkeeping/accounting/payroll role
  • Associates degree or at least 5 years of professional work experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Flexibility and problem solving skills in developing and implementing improved office procedures and providing professional assistance to Teen Empowerment staff
  • Interpersonal skills, to work effectively with a broad spectrum of people (including board members, donors, youth, staff, and volunteers) and work collaboratively as a colleague and team member
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of accounting software (Xero, Bill.com, Quickbooks, etc.) a plus.
  • Some IT and/or Human Resources experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
