Center for NYC Neighborhoods is Hiring a Marketing Intern Near New York, NY

Position: Marketing Intern Department: Marketing and CommunicationsReports to: Director, Marketing and CommunicationsFLSA: Hourly, non exempt Salary Range: $20/hour for 29 hours/week About the CenterThe Center for NYC Neighborhoods (“the Center”) promotes and protects affordable homeownership in New York so that middle- and working-class families can build strong, thriving communities. Established by public and private partners, the Center meets the diverse needs of homeowners throughout New York State by offering free, high-quality housing services. The Center’s current projects support our policy goals and help to keep homeownership affordable by responding to the ongoing effects of the foreclosure crisis, the rising cost of homeownership, predatory scams, rising sea levels, and more extreme weather. The Center is funded by a mix of funding from government, foundation, and corporate sources.Position Summary:The Intern will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications, working closely with program areas like Clean Energy Hub. The Intern will receive an in-depth introduction to a multifaceted non-profit organization’s marketing and communications functions in support of marketing campaigns, project management, marketing process management, performance measurement, and storytelling. The internship will be a part-time (29 hours per week), non-exempt, and hybrid role, requiring two days per week in our NY office. The internship is anticipated to run for 11 weeks, from mid-June through the end of August 2024.  Essential Functions may include one or more of the following depending on the departmental assignment, department needs, and the intern’s skills and interests:
  • Contribute to the creation of marketing concepts to be used for marketing campaigns
  • Manage the development of creative deliverables, under the direction of the marketing and communications director
  • Track and report the status of select marketing projects
  • Develop editorial calendar, in collaboration with other departments
  • Support the development and launch of social media campaigns
  • Plan, coordinate, and assist with organization-wide events including outings and celebrations
  • Coordinate the creation of marketing deliverables in support of in-person events
  • Conduct surveys and interviews, as needed
  • Other projects as assigned
Educational Requirements:
  • A collegiate sophomore or junior
  • Pursuing or had pursued an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Ability to work independently, as assigned
  • Organizational and interpersonal service skills
  • Demonstrated cultural competence with diverse clients, staff, and visitors
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize, and follow through on different tasks
  • Professionalism and tact, consistently positive
  • Well-organized, detailed-oriented, and possesses good follow-up skills; meets rigorous deadlines and handles challenging tasks with efficiency and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Passionate or demonstrated interest in the Center’s mission and programs that promote affordable homeownership and flood resiliency
  • Strong knowledge of Google products is desired
  • Experience with collaborative project management tools like Asana is desired
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus
  • Demonstrate Ownership by showing initiative, acting conscientiously, and putting team results above individual accomplishments;
  • Demonstrate a Growth Mindset through resilience, engaging in expansive thinking, and showing curiosity;
  • Works collaboratively by demonstrating the ability to work in teams, exhibiting emotional intelligence, and having positive energy.
Salary: $20 per hour, up to 29 hours per week, depending on class schedule
