Job Title: Middle School Math Teacher

Location: The Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Discovery (CCID)

Position Overview:

The Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Discovery (CCID) is currently seeking to hire a Middle School 7th/8th Grade Math Teacher. This is a full-time Middle School teaching position. The anticipated start date is July 31st, 2024 with benefits starting on August 1st. We seek a passionate and dynamic Middle School Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education, a commitment to student-centered learning, and the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons that inspire curiosity and critical thinking.

School Overview

The Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Discovery (CCID) is a public charter school in Providence, Utah serving over 450 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Driven by our vision of using research-supported instructional strategies, a positive learning environment, and collaborative student-community partnerships to foster a passion and curiosity for the STEM disciplines.

CCID sets the standard for teaching and learning excellence through our academic and co-curricular programs, including place-based learning opportunities, artistic self-expression, and project-based learning. We foster curiosity, compassion, and joy throughout the learning process, and promote young adults who know how to think critically.

Located near the base of the stunning Bear River Mountain Range and near Utah State University, a R1 research university. CCID attracts a diverse community of families. CCID School

CCID (grades K–8) serves approximately 400 students and is focused on the academic, emotional, and social growth of students. CCID runs a weekly schedule, with Fridays being an early-out day at 1:05pm. CCID runs a 1-1 device program, using chromebooks. We are a Google Apps school and teachers are expected to host their curriculum in the Canvas LMS. The school capitalizes on the strong collaborative nature of the teachers to enhance the curriculum further by exploring interdisciplinary connections and having our students engage more within the Cache Valley community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum objectives.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and ensure that each student is challenged and making progress.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, analyze student data, and continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in mathematics education.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with students, their families, and colleaues.
  • Contribute positively to the overall school culture while fulfilling duties as assigned (field work supervisor, club sponsor, recess supervision, etc).

Skills and Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree and science classroom experience working with adolescents are preferred. The ideal candidate is focused on the learning and well-being of students. In addition, a CCID teacher has excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to reflecting on their practices and continuously improving them. Strong candidates will also show interest in engaging with the school community while advocating for students, supporting parents, and collaborating with faculty and staff. In addition to the description above, a teacher at CCID will:

  • Have received at least a bachelor’s degree at an approved higher education institution;
  • Hold an appropriate license with all required endorsements as approved by the USBE or be on track to complete alternate licensure within three years of hiring;
  • Has the experience, ability, and interest to work with middle school students;
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission, pedagogy, and methods of CCID;
  • Understand and follow all FERPA laws and implement accommodations for students as required by Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 plans.
  • Have excellent communication skills and an ability to work well and collaborate with colleagues, administration, parents and community members;
  • Be willing to seek additional training and certification, and seek continual learning and self-development through CCID-sponsored professional development and other sources;
  • Understand and use the Utah Effective Teaching Standards as a framework for their quality of work.

  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead frequently and for extended time periods.
