Co-Director of the Center for Children

The Vine UMC (Charlotte, NC) is seeking a Co-Director for the Center for Children Early Childcare Center.

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
  • At least a Level II NC Administrative Credential
  • 1 year of verifiable experience in a licensed childcare facility
  • 3 years of classroom teaching experience in early childhood education or infants through prekindergarten
  • Knowledge and maintenance of state licensing regulations, staffing, and general preschool operations including the curriculum
  • Experience in recordkeeping and data input
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office, Procare, and/or Google Suites
  • Commitment to adhere to the Center for the Children Personnel Handbook and Operations Manual
  • Possess deep love for children and a strong commitment to building positive relationships with families and the community
  • Reliable with strong character and values. Will serve as a role model for others in the school and embody the servant leadership philosophy
  • Knowledge of NC DCDEE licensing regulations, sanitation, and fire inspection guidelines

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that CFC’s facilities meet local, state, and federal safety requirements.
  • Maintain 5-star rating following Department of Child Development Star standards and procedures for quality childcare programming.
  • Build and maintain a highly qualified staff by actively sourcing, training, coaching, and engaging with current and prospective employees.
  • Drive consistent business results, measured through family and staff retention, enrollment growth, and efficient business operations.
  • Assist teachers with the weekly development and execution of the curriculum and program activities to meet physical, emotional, and creative needs of the children.
  • Perform weekly teaching technique observations, lead regular one-on-ones, provide opportunities for individualized professional development, monitor goal accomplishment, and provide timely, specific feedback.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and complete annual evaluations for all staff each February.
  • Initiates and oversees semi-annual parent-teacher conferences and child evaluations.
  • Hire outstanding talent and ensure center is fully staffed with high performing teachers.
  • Prepare and coordinate work schedules, document days off, and arrange substitute staff.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead effective staff meetings.
  • Monitor payroll, paid time off, and overtime.
  • Maintain open and honest lines of communication with parents including setting regular meetings, creating a monthly newsletter, and other strategies to stay connected.
  • Lead Parent Advisory meetings and activities.
  • Organize and execute community engagement through social media, website, and outreach to foster the center's positive presence in the community.
  • Maintain accurate records, such as children’s semi-annual evaluations, faculty’s personnel files, and state documents.
  • Schedule and implement monthly fire and severe weather drills.
  • Conduct tours for prospective families, oversee the waitlist, and communicate with interested parents.
