Job Purpose:

Looking for technical candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in IT. The individual should be passionate about technology with a basic understanding of operating systems and usage of them. In particular, UNIX and Linux.

This job is an entry level position which provides a career path to other departments and job duties within Cendyn such as DevOps engineer, IT Administrator, Software Engineer and many others.

Job Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Able to login into servers that are UNIX/Linux based and able to understand and run specified commands.
2. Brief familiarity with Windows (Workstation or Server) to be able to login and follow set instructions. For example to restart a service, terminate a process or reboot.
3. Brief understanding of database queries to be able to execute pre-defined queries against a database under specific circumstances.
4. Use critical thinking to understand Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) and determine which SOP applies to a particular scenario and whether it should be followed or the issue should be escalated.
5. Improve and update SOP documentation

Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

1. 1-2 years experience with UNIX based operating systems and basic usage.
2. High school graduate 

Expected Competencies:

1. Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
2. Ability to pay attention to alerts and company instant message platform (Microsoft Teams)
3. Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal

Work Environment:

This job operates in a virtual office environment. Working in a virtual office environment requires a high degree of discipline and the ability to work with others remotely.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be expected in case of job-related emergencies or client needs.

Travel:

This position does not require travel.
