Cen-Tex Family Services: Hearts of Texas Head Start Program is Hiring a Substitute Teacher/La Grange Near La Grange, TX

This position is temporary. Hours are based on center needs (PRN). Centers opens only Mondays through Fridays.

To qualify, you must attend 8 days of required paid trainings in our La Grange Training Center, must have a high school diploma or GED, pass a background check, and get a TB and physical exam. We pay for the required fingerprints and for the TB and physical exam.

SUMMARY: The Substitute Teacher Assistant serves as a member of an instructional team assisting with classroom activities and supervision of assigned children in the absence of regular teaching staff, and as directed by Center Director and Human Resources Director.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma/GED

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition to the above minimum qualifications)

3-6 months of working with children in a licensed day care center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

1. Assist with classroom preparation and activities of children as directed by Center Director.

2. Assist with maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for children.

3. Participate in and assist during meal and snack time following family style meal services and guiding children in clean-up afterwards.

4. Assist with daily cleaning of center facilities and preparation of classroom materials.

5. Provide a positive image to co-workers and the community by being supportive of the agency's mission, vision and goals.

6. Work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and those with disabilities and special needs.

7. Continue professional growth by participating in classes, training programs, workshops/conferences, as needed and required and/or allowed within the agency’s budget.

8. Report to work at scheduled time and maintain good attendance and availability.

9. Perform all duties in a safe, timely and professional manner.

10. Actively participate in all program activities with a positive attitude and behavior.

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
