JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

As a Procurement Manager you will be responsible for locating and maintaining the best sources of supply for a variety of indirect equipment, goods and services needed by the company. This should be done in consideration of all aspects of relationships with suppliers, including quality, value, and the ability to respond quickly to changing business requirements. This position is also responsible for selecting suppliers and vendors that can act as long-term partners and help the company meet its growth objectives. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple non-inventory categories of spend while overseeing and mentoring a team thru demonstrated leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, lead and execute procurement strategies and policy
  • Create, track and report KPIs to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Oversee procurement processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Manage and lead RFx processes in a variety of indirect spend categories
  • Craft negotiation strategies with optimal terms, risk mitigation and understanding of total cost of ownership
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and documented
  • Effective communication with Legal on all aspects of contract review and negotiation
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power as well as performing cost analysis and benchmarking
  • Assess, manage and mitigate potential risks through strategic planning
  • Build and develop relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers as well as internal stakeholders
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand while effectively managing logistics
  • Provide training/guidance on purchase order and ticketing systems; review/approve POs in accordance with policy and negotiated terms and conditions
  • Handle defective or unacceptable goods or services with users, vendors and others to determine cause of problem and take corrective and preventative actions
  • Develop and lead procurement team members through all aspects of the Procurement process, demonstrating professionalism, leadership and mentoring

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    Must be able to perform repetitious hand/eye movement, sit for long periods of time and be able to drive.

    This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
    • 8 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles with proven career progression
    • 2 years experience in supervising a procurement team
    • Experience in overseeing indirect spend categories
    • Contract management including negotiation and understanding of legal terminology
    • Proficient in Excel

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Master’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
    • 4 years of experience in procurement management positions with supervisory responsibilities
    • Service Now experience
    • Familiarity with retail leases
    • Familiarity with facility and construction vendors
    • Technology contract negotiation

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

    • Demonstrated expertise with sourcing and vendor management
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and networking skills
    • Experience with purchasing and vendor management software and systems
    • Ability to assess the performance of suppliers against criteria such as quality, cost, reliability, and financial stability
    • Financial skills to assess the total cost of dealing with a supplier, including price and factors such as the cost of delivery, administration quality control and inventory
    • Strong leadership skills, including developing team members and process improvement
