We are creating for tomorrow! About the Role We are seeking a Multi-Craft Technician to be a part of the maintenance team based in Concord. This is a night shift position typically working from 7pm – 7am on a 2-2-3 schedule. Will train on day shift following a 7am-7pm schedule for 3-6 months upon starting. Will troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment breakdowns involving mechanical and electrical aspects of machinery, analyze failures or equipment technical loss causes, and make or suggest improvements as needed, all while: Ensuring compliance with appropriate safety policies and procedures. Reporting Relationships This position directly reports to the I&E Supervisor and does not supervise others but will be expected to lead and guide others on repairs or projects, will also help train lower-level technicians. Asahi Kasei’s Values Sincerity – Being sincere with everyone Challenge – Bolding taking challenges, continually seeking change Creativity – Creating new value through unity and synergy Key Accountabilities Perform instrumentation and electrical maintenance functions which include but are not limited to the following: Follow department guidelines and Standard Operating Procedure work instruction for equipment repair of plastic film processing equipment, specifically extrusion line cleanings, preventative Maintenance & other equipment maintenance Properly complete and submit all paperwork associated with equipment maintenance and safety protocols Perform electrical calibrations & preventative maintenance Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical power systems, motor drives, control systems, as well as instruments used in the systems Understand and safely use test equipment such as volt, Ohm, current meters, megohmmeters’, oscilloscopes. Perform minor modifications to equipment to eliminate the root cause of mechanical or electrical problems. Provide support to the manufacturing processes by diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment including electrical components, mechanical components, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and compressors. Assist in the diagnosis of process related problems through collaborative teamwork with Engineering & Operations staff Complete preventative maintenance tasks to ensure proper functioning of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to read, interpret and analyze electrical/mechanical schematics, block diagrams, and flow charts. Possess basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics. Possess electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. Disassemble, clean, reassemble production equipment Install and/or verify correct instrument installation Support new equipment installations with point-to-point verification prior to start up Update electrical drawings & procedures, when needed Follow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures, plan safety into projects and tasks, have a working knowledge and understanding of HAZMAT, MSDS, EPA, and OSHA requirements Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects Work collaboratively with all maintenance and manufacturing personnel with a willingness to integrate into a closely knit team; lead and participate in cross-functional teams, must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with production staff Ability to read, write and understand sufficient English to read machinery controls, load types, temperature, time, etc. Must be multi-talented, extremely flexible in work assignments Support new equipment installations Train other maintenance personnel on electrical systems and personal areas of expertise Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., climb ladders, bend and twist in order to reach remote equipment. Operate PIV equipment (forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one man lift, etc.) Use computer to update electrical procedures Self-Motivated Performs other duties as assigned Flexibility to carry a radio for coverage and site wide communication. Also willing to work a night shift schedule. Write detailed written reports Repair and/or replace mechanical components Train other maintenance personnel on I&E systems and personal areas of expertise Work collaboratively with all maintenance and manufacturing personnel Participate in cross-functional teams to contribute to continuous improvement Follow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures and demonstrate a strong ability to support a safe work culture Qualifications Education Background: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required Associate degree or certificate in Electrical Technology highly preferred. Considerations will be made for related field or relevant military experience. Knowledge & Experience: 8 years instrumentation & electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment performing multi-craft maintenance, 5-8 years of experience preferred Formal industrial maintenance training required Key Attributes: Ability to perform diagnostics and set-up of PLC & AC Inverter drives; preferred experience on Allen Bradley RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and Powerflex drives Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems required Basic knowledge and troubleshooting skills of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems (brakes, clutches, couplings, bearings, belts, chains, gears, sprockets, etc.) Troubleshooting pneumatic systems is required. Must obtain PIV license PIV equipment experience (forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one-man lift, etc.) Ability to repair and/or replace electrical components required. Ability to read/comprehend electrical schematics required. Experience supporting instrumentation and control loops for temperature, pressure, tension, and flow preferred Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., climb ladders, bend and twist in order to reach remote equipment. Knowledge of small centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, piping layouts, and polymer extrusion, preferred Understand and safely use test equipment such as volt, Ohm, current meters, megohmmeters and oscilloscopes Ability to read, interpret and analyze electrical/mechanical schematics, block diagrams, and flow charts Experience troubleshooting and doing PMs Ability to identify and diagnose problems and implement corrective action eMaintenance system Knowledge of company safety, OSHA and department policies and procedures including Lock Out Tag Out Good applied interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to read and comprehend basic English and perform basic math functions including reading a tape measure Ability to be self-motivated Ability to work from heights (Ladders, Aerial Lifts, Roofs, etc) Ability to work in confined spaces. Experience with predictive techniques such as infrared and ultrasonic are preferred Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office applications and other computer programs (MS Office, Word, Excel) See Physical Requirements and Working Conditions. Working Environment This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking for up to 80% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate.
