Responsibilities:
JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Cedar Grove RTC, located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is a 45-bed CARF-accredited facility that treats young men, ages 11-17, who are struggling with Sexual/or mental health issues. As a DON you will have the opportunity to be a part of the senior management team which directly impacts decisions made at the facility.

JOB SUMMARY

Directs or coordinates development of staff and operation of nursing department. Develops, implements, and manages nursing activities. Responsible for coordinating provision of twenty-four hour nursing coverage for facility. May administer medications appropriately and documents all data accurately according to facility policy. Ensures compliance with nursing care standards established by federal, state and local regulatory agencies and adherence to facility objectives and policies pertaining to nursing administration. Participates in Quality Assurance Programs. Advises medical staff, department heads and administrator in matters related to nursing service.

The DON has broad responsibility to protect the facility’s assets from loss, and is responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts. This includes advising management and administration on all potential sources of loss and for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and at least 2 years experience in the nursing field. One (1) year experience in managerial or supervisory capacity at or above the level of Nurse Supervisor. Must be a registered nurse licensed to practice nursing in the state where the facility if located. Experience in mental health field preferred but not required. Must be CPR certified.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
____1.Manages medication of clients by ensuring physician orders are evaluated, implemented, and documented and by assuring proper administration of medication to each client.
____2.Observes, evaluates, and implements appropriate treatment for students symptoms and behaviors and any subsequent treatment and/or interventions and records same in the medical record according to facility policy.
____3.Formulates, implements and evaluates nursing treatment/ care plans. Updates care plan as necessary.
____4.Ensures appropriate and timely reporting of occurrences by maintaining a Healthcare Peer Review Reporting system
(Occurrence notification system); enters incidents into the MEDIK Database.
____5.Collects and screens all reports.
____6.Analyzes and trends data.
____7.Identifies actual and potential risk situations and facilitates the determination of causative factors.

The work environment for this position is a residential facility setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to residents who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually-explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors.
