Summary
Relieve unplanned absences as needed. Support and follow USDA, SQF / QA, GMP, HACCP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position.
Education and/or Experience
Language Skills
English is required as the spoken language. A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
The vacation relief operator must be able to carry the same license as the position that he/she is relieving for. This may include being able to possess or be able to obtain and maintain a forklift operator license, sampler/weigher’s license, and/or a Pasteurizers license, Class ‘A’ Drivers License.

Vacation relief personnel are not attached to one permanent job. The operator rotates their job from week to week and department depending on where they are needed for relief. As a result of this, the physical demand of their job encompasses every job in the plant. The physical demands will be based on the job description of the assigned job.
In general, all production jobs require the ability to lift and carry 60 lbs. on a regular basis and 80 lbs. on an occasional basis during the course of each workday. The operator stands throughout their shift and occasionally sits while performing tests during the course of each workday. The operator walks on uneven concrete and tile surfaces during the course of each workday. The operator needs full range of motion including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, turning, climbing, balancing, reaching, grasping and manipulating during the course of each workday.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employees may be subject to temperatures associated with an air-cooled room. In addition to temperatures ranging from 34 to an excess of 100 degrees. An employee may come in contact with ammonia, acids, caustics and chlorines.
Personal protective equipment including, but no limited to: hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves and eye protection must be used in the performance of duties. Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
