Position Summary:

Seeking an Estimator for our Preconstruction group. The primary objective of this position is to support the preparation and delivery of pricing deliverables. This position receives direction from a Senior Estimator. Additionally, this person will coordinate with Project Managers on assigned projects.

General Duties:

Include but are not limited too:

  • Contribute to pricing of competitive bid and negotiated deliverables as follows:
    • Analyze and identify scopes of work from existing conditions, plans, and specifications through all phases of document deliverables.
    • Perform quantity takeoffs quickly and accurately.
    • Assist with subcontractor solicitation.
    • Communicate with owners, architects, and engineers to clarify scope of work.
    • Communicate project information and scope of work to subcontractors.
    • Analyze subcontractor pricing.
    • Assist with compilation of owner deliverables.
    • Understand and communicate cost variances between estimates.
    • Contribute to value engineering efforts.
  • Build relationships with subcontractors.
  • Attend industry functions and represent CDI in a professional capacity.
  • Stay current with advances in estimating technology and techniques.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in construction or related field.
  • Bachelor s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications with a strong attention to detail.
  • General understanding of competitive bids and negotiated processes.
  • Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative office environment.

Other Requirements:

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, very organized, has strong communication skills – both verbally and written, is able to focus on completion of multiple concurrent responsibilities, and has the ability to work well in a fast-paced work environment.
