General Job Description for : Pipeline General Foreman 

This is skilled supervisory work in the construction and maintenance of refinery or pipeline facilities. This individual may supervise the installation of underground utilities and/or construction and major repair of pipelines. Supervision is exercised over a crew of skilled and unskilled workers or two or more small crews assigned to individual projects throughout the facilities. Work is performed under general direction of a superintendant and is subject to periodic review for results obtained, changes in work methods, and adherence to departmental policies.

Job Duties and Task for: Pipeline General Foreman

1. Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of laborers, truck drivers, and equipment operators engaged in the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of pipelines.
2. Supervises one or more crews engaged in constructing and repairing pipelines.
3. Supervises the installation of utility piping, the backfilling and compacting of trench, the installation of trench shoring and installation of street steel plating.
4. Supervises land leveling projects.
5. Instructs and trains employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills.
6. Prepares time and other required reports; recommends purchase of tools, equipment, and material.
7. Performs related work as required. 

Skills Needed for: Pipeline General Foreman 

1. Thorough knowledge of utilities and pipelines.
2. Thorough knowledge of practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools used in refinery and pipeline construction and maintenance.
3. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
4. Ability to interpret and work from instructions, penciled plans and sketches, and blue prints.
5. Ability to lay-out, direct, and supervise construction and major repair projects.
6. Ability to supervise the work of others.
7. Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
8. Ability to communicate and coordinate with superintendants, subordinates, vendors and customers.
9. Ability to keep records and to prepare work and time reports.

Knowledge, Experience, Education Required for: Pipeline General Foreman 

1. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved.
2. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
3. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
4. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
6. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
7.  High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
8. Associates Degree or Technical Degree, in business, civil engineering, or related Pipeline equivalent work experience.
