Position Title: Nurse Consultant II

Location: North Carolina

Position End Date: 2/28/2025

Salary: $80,198.00

Overview:

The CDC Foundation seeks a Nurse Consultant II who will work in the Communicable Disease Branch of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. This position will be instrumental in providing the expertise and resources needed to successfully provide timely, evidence-based information and recommendations to federal, state and local partners, including 84 local health departments/districts, community providers and the general public.

Qualifications:

· Basic knowledge of principles and practices of applicable State and Federal laws, business, finance, physician services, nursing, pharmacy, sanitation, diagnostic services and/or patient activity programs.

· Considerable knowledge of advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, to both patients and families, as well as professional colleagues, physicians, other agencies, vendors and research sponsors.

· Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of State and Federal standards, certifying and accrediting bodies, guidelines and regulations applicable to areas of assignment.

· Ability to answer questions from nursing and medical staff or provide consultation on disease processes, treatment and care.

· Ability to organize, develop and conduct formal training programs.

· Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of clinical experience in the area of specialization.

Responsibilities:

· Perform advanced consultative work for various audiences such as public health, utilization review, and health care delivery systems.

· Conduct reviews and assessments within an assigned geographic region, inpatient facility, or central office setting.

· Provide expert analysis and recommendations to improve healthcare delivery systems.

· Assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical healthcare services for a broad dispersed geographic area, which may encompass a variety of health issues and cultural differences or a significantly high-risk and costly patient group.

· Participate in program planning, policy-making and the development of system-wide nursing standards.

· Provide advanced technical expertise and guidance in assessing, developing and implementing educational and research materials to meet nursing practice needs

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, in order to best support the State of North Carolina in their public health programming.

This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
