North Forest Office Space is Hiring a Continuous Improvement Practitioner Part Time Near Buffalo, NY

The Continuous Improvement Practitioner will report to the CEO and will lead and facilitate our continuous improvement and Lean Enterprise journey.

In our Continuous Improvement Environment, the successful candidate will have the following:

  • Passion for Continuous Improvement with expert knowledge base of Lean thinking (scientific and coaching abilities)
  • High proficiency in the areas of lean methodologies and process and root cause analyses
  • Ability to create lean training and facilitate adult learning using various methodologies (experiential learning, simulations, on the job learning, classroom, case studies, etc).
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within an organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Detail oriented leading to high quality results
  • Flexibility and diplomacy when working with team members
  • Ability to influence decision-making
  • Strong work habits focused on safety, quality, cost and productivity
  • Strong facilitation, teaching and problem solving skills
  • Strong system and process thinker
  • Proven project management skills and experience working and facilitating the use of the traditional Lean Tools (5S, A3’s, Andon, Value Stream Mapping, Gemba walks, KanBan Visual Systems, Pull Systems, Takt time, Kaizen).
  • Proven track record of creating standard work.
  • Customer-centric mentality
  • Ability to be protective of the North Forest culture by being sensitive to the fact that change can be taken personally while keeping team members actively motivated and engaged in the CI process going forward.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote a performance mindset at all levels through team training, building standard work and simplification.
  • Evaluate all continuous improvement activities and implement plans to optimize performance and processes.
  • Employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives
  • Secure team member commitment for proactive change management.
  • Establish a clear and well-articulated implementation plan.
  • Facilitate and establish criteria for the project’s success and prepare a sound statement of constraints/limiting factors.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of the current situations that accurately describes the issues.
  • Identify available resources (for example: people, material, and capital).
  • Conduct value stream mapping of current and future states.
  • Accurately analyze options including impact and feasibility.
  • Identify obstacles and ways to overcome them through continuous improvement.
  • Regularly monitor the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits.
  • Facilitate multiple projects and apply continuous improvement techniques, leveraging Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to solve problems and build new capabilities.
  • Act as a change agent by challenging leaders to drive continuous improvement across the enterprise.
  • Interface with all departments to identify improvement opportunities to drive quality and efficient standard processes.
  • Collect, publish and maintain a library of all CI projects for NFOS.

Desired Education and Qualifications (not limited to):

  • 3-5 years of CI facilitation experience leading and facilitating CI interventions and change initiatives with a proven track record of driving customer value in a manufacturing type environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in organizational behavior, engineering or business administration, MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • Lean certification through an accredited organization.
  • Green Belt strongly desired.
  • Lean Six Sigma (preferred).
  • Experience developing and using control charts, histograms, pareto charting, cause and effect diagrams to drive quality improvements across the enterprise (highly desired)
  • Experience facilitating Kaizen events, facilitating and writing standard work,creating visual management boards for teams and gaining buy-in from teams and leaders.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 24 per week
