General Summary

Performs clean-up duties including dishwashing, emptying trash, sweeping floors, equipment clean-up, etc. Puts away groceries, fills cutlery, etc. Performs other tasks as requested throughout Facilities Management.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Daily performs clean-up duties including dishwashing, emptying trash, sweeping floors, equipment clean-up, etc. Ensures that all food areas & dish room are clean at end of shift. 
  2. Daily puts away all dishes and fills cutlery containers, fills ice stations throughout the building, and lifts heavy pots and other items.
  3. Promptly puts away groceries & unpacks goods as they arrive. Receives produce & checks for quality. Stores food items according to temperature requirements. Rotates stock in coolers & refrigerators. 
  4. During heavy program weeks, assists in preparing foods by performing a combination of the following: weighs, measures, washes, peels, cuts, grinds, breads, stirs and/or strains vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, seafood, soups, sauces and other foods to the quality standards of an Executive Dining Room and on a timely basis.
  5. Must be ServeSafe certified within 1 year of hire date.
  6. Performs other tasks as requested throughout Facilities Management.

Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Ability to work with cafeteria equipment.
  2. Working knowledge of restaurant cleaning methods. This is normally acquired through three months on the job experience.
  3. Ability to follow instructions, adapt quickly to changes and work independently.
  4. Good interpersonal skills required due to team effort necessary to complete tasks.
  5. Good time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  6. Ability to meet sanitation standards which include personal hygiene.
  7. Ability to tolerate extensive standing.
  8. Must follow dress code.
Working Conditions

Normal dining room and cafeteria working conditions. Exposure to hot surfaces and sharp instruments, etc. Lifting of up to 40 lbs. required. Hours are flexible Monday through Friday.
