General Description :

The General Maintenance Technician (GMT) / Helper supports internal and external client needs by performing manual labor in support of Facility Projects.

This position is responsible for performing general labor work along with assisting craftsmen in performing their tasks.

Laborers must apply sound judgement and understanding when carrying out detailed or uninvolved written and / or oral instructions.

Must have the ability to read and interpret safety manuals and warning signs, specifications, rigging diagrams and lifting capacity charts for equipment and load carrying parts.

Must display capable oral communication skills and can provide and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.

This position will be responsible for driving CCI's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success.

Essential Duties & Job Functions :

  • Ensure a safe work environment.

  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools (Impact guns, torque wrenches, grinders, jigsaw, drills, rakes, shovels, cribbing, chock blocks etc.

  • Assist in performing mechanical overhauls on facility equipment which may include but is not limited to, energy isolation (Lock Out / Tag Out), bolt-up, pipe stripping, lifting, scaffold erection, rigging, and other work-related requirements
  • Operation of vehicles to include pickups, 12-foot flatbed, and box van trucks (F550), small mobile trailers and other equipment in adverse weather and road conditions.
  • Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI Industrial Services and clients while on shift, on call, or attending training.
  • Be a Safety Leader! Ensure the resources and commit to HSE is of top priority for all employees within the company.
  • Maintain 100% Safety Standards and Accountability in all areas or mandatory / regulatory requirements, which include : Compliance with required HSE Training.

Ensures all work conducted in in his / her area is properly permitted.Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.

Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns / incidents / issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.

Participating in safety meetings, work safely, and maintain a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.

Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.

  • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walks downs and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
  • Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
  • Be a team player, striving for an interdependent, successful and effective approach to meeting our vision, mission and business objectives.
  • Communicate daily status of current projects to Overhaul Supervisor as necessary to ensure all projects are timely and within company and client standards.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, exercises and drills.
  • Assist others on special project needs, when appropriate.
  • Promote safe work practices by following company and client safety policies.
  • Demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures. Accept accountability for safe work practices.
  • Participate in START card, Tool Box Talk (TBT), pre and post project meetings. Perform shop, field, and vehicle inspections.
  • Will ensure work scopes are fully defined and proper resources and materials are in place to accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrate support of company and client environmental management system.
  • Participate in the CCI active list for spill responders.
  • Coach and train CCI crew members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts;

high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

Physical Requirements :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard.

MOBILITY : Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push / pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.

Shoveling up to 20 lbs. Frequent walking and standing. Occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.

  • HEARING : Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY : Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
  • LIFTING : Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • RANGE OF MOTION : An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire / post offer FCE.

Contingencies :

Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Requirements

Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Current Southwest Louisiana Safety Council Card or equivalent if working in other States
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC Card within 30 days

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Current 24-hour Hazwoper Certificate
  • Experience in Oil & Gas Facility Operations with knowledge of production systems and equipment is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certificate
