Geotechnical Driller Assistant / Secondary Driller

This full time position is based out of our Hockley Office. This role assists the Geotechnical Driller on site-based projects and candidate must have the ability for travel to various job sites when needed.

In addition, the successful candidate would have opportunities to advance in the organization by training to become the lead driller and evolve with the company growth.

Summary of Position:

The Geotechnical Driller Assistant will assist with the deployment of drill rigs, transporting, loading, and unloading equipment and logging information from the job site during drilling operations. As noted, the successful candidate for this position would be trained and developed to continue with the company as an eventual primary driller and grow with the company.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the mobilization of drilling rigs and/or cone trucks for jobs as directed. Load drill pipe, mud, and equipment.
  • Physically complete labor-intensive projects assigned by the Project Coordinator/Project Manager.
  • Assist with monitoring the performance of all equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work area as directed.
  • Complete all required paperwork directed by the Project Manager
  • Attend all safety meetings and comply with both company and client safety standards and programs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including equipment and job site areas.
  • Turn in all required paperwork to office on a daily basis.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities by Company safety rules and procedures
  • All other duties assigned by the Project Manager or Driller as required.

Qualifications:

  • Legally Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Experience working around drilling and heavy equipment
  • Sufficient knowledge of geotechnical drilling techniques to be responsible for an entire project
  • Be available for drilling projects that require both in-state and out-of-state travel and overnight visits
  • CDL A License (an asset)
  • Geotechnical Drilling Experience - Soils Augers, Wet Rotary and Wireline Coring
  • Familiar with and following DOT and IFTA regulations.
  • Must have current driver's license with record in accordance with Company and DOT policies, class A license is highly preferred but not required.
  • TWIC card.
  • ISTC Basic Plus.
  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification.
  • Previous geotechnical drilling experience is a major plus.
  • It is the responsibility of the employee to have all required safety training and tickets for each project they work on. A list of training required will be provided to the employee and must be completed within 3 days of signed offer letter or prior to mobilizing to site. These courses may include but not limited to: H2s, OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, Confined space, API 1169.

  • The Company will provide basic PPE items such as safety goggles, gloves and other items that may be specific to the job site. The employee will be responsible for all other PPE requirements for the job.
