COORDINATOR, GRANT PROGRAMS – PT (TEMPORARY)

DALEY COLLEGE

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. 

Daley College serves as the Center of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing, offers credit and certificate programs in Computer Numeric Control (CNC), Factory Automation (Maintenance), Quality Assurance, and Welding. Students attend classes at the college’s Manufacturing Technology & Engineering Center (MTEC), which is fully equipped with high-bay space and ten engineering and manufacturing labs that provide students with the requisite training for highly specialized, technology-oriented careers. 

Daley College’s one-year Workforce Equity Initiative Grant from the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) funds a project that provides students with training and credentials in specified manufacturing programs, support services, and assistance in finding job entry into manufacturing careers. Industry certificates as well as Basic Certificates in Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Welding and Maintenance will be earned through this project. 

This is grant funded temporary position.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Dean of College to Careers, the Coordinator, Grant Programs PT works in close collaboration with community-based organizations and workforce and community partners to provide extensive support and a holistic approach to help ensure student success. The positions will focus on providing support services to students identified under the grant and achieve the following objectives:

  • Provide and coordinate the provision of career readiness and soft skills under the career development component of the training program;
  • Develop and increase apprenticeship opportunities and related work-based learning opportunities with manufacturing employers; and
  • Develop and implement a placement tracking system to provide on-going tracking of students as they progress through training and obtain jobs in the manufacturing 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Meets with students identified under the grant to advise them of available support services to help them build job-ready skills and transition successfully into the workforce. 
  • Provides and facilitates the provision of personal and professional development workshops and courses on soft skills and career readiness skills to assist them in the job search and interviewing process.
  • Works collaboratively with workforce and community - based partners to inform and educate manufacturing employers in the region of Daley’s manufacturing training programs and available source of talent to meet their workforce needs.
  • Researches and identifies available job placement opportunities with manufacturing employers for students completing training programs.
  • Participates in cultivating and building partnerships with industry and business partners to recruit employers and create apprenticeship programs, offering motivated students with opportunities for job training, work experience and employment.
  • Develops and maintains a database to implement a Placement tracking system to record and track students as they progress from enrollment to program completion, acquiring industry recognized certifications and employment in the manufacturing industry.
  • Perform related duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Work experience in academic/business/industry management
  • Demonstrated experience establishing partnerships with business and community- based organizations. Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing apprenticeship and work-based learning programs
  • Demonstrated experience in providing coaching in career/job readiness and soft skills to students
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation/public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Must be able and willing to work some evenings and weekends as required
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
