The Janitorial Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the janitorial staff in maintaining cleanliness, order, and safety within a designated facility or premises. This role requires a combination of leadership, janitorial expertise, and organizational skills to ensure the efficient operation of cleaning tasks and adherence to standards.
Supervise janitorial staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
Conduct regular training sessions to educate staff on cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and proper equipment usage.
Help improve, develop and implement cleaning schedules, assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members.
Monitor cleaning activities to ensure compliance with established standards and protocols.
Inspect facilities regularly to identify areas needing attention and coordinate corrective actions.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
Order supplies as needed, considering budgetary constraints and usage requirements.
Oversee proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment to ensure safety.
Conduct quality inspections with Director of Facilities to assess the cleanliness and condition of facilities.
Address any deficiencies or issues promptly, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
Solicit feedback from clients or building occupants to gauge satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
Enforce safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and promote a safe work environment.
Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards, including proper disposal of waste and adherence to cleaning procedures.
Stay informed about relevant regulations and industry best practices, updating procedures as needed.
Liaise with facility managers, supervisors, or clients to discuss cleaning requirements and address concerns.
Coordinate with other departments or contractors as needed to facilitate cleaning activities and resolve issues.
Communicate effectively with team members to provide instructions, feedback, and updates on job-related matters.
Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, with demonstrated proficiency in cleaning techniques and equipment operation.
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and procedures.
