About the Program and Position:
Our Substance Abuse Prevention Program uses the evidence-based model Botvin’s LifeSkills Training (LST), a proven method to teach students in Broward County schools how to avoid drug and alcohol use. LST covers topics such as decision-making, coping with stress, and resisting peer pressure. Young people can gain practical life skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to resist negative influences that can lead to substance abuse.
The Prevention Counselor conducts substance abuse prevention group services to children and youth in designated Broward schools/areas under the direction of the Program Supervisor. They will work with children and youth to build resistance and social competency skills to change attitudes/behaviors, prevent and reduce substance use, and promote healthy behaviors. The counselor is responsible for documentation, and collecting and organizing program data. The counselor is also responsible for maintaining productivity as determined by the grant and the program supervisor.

Flexible schedule to meet program needs, including evenings and weekends as needed; regular hours 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
