Cayuga Centers is Hiring a Safety Officer Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

Job Description:


Earn $58,500 annually, plus 120 hours paid vacation, 12 paid sick days, 10 paid holidays; and we offer 401K and medical packages

JOB OBJECTIVES: The Safety Officer is dedicated to overseeing all Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) reporting, as it relates to Notices of Concerns and Office of Trafficking In Persons (OTIP) Referrals. The Incident and Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring all external and internal reporting is completed according to ORR, Council on Accreditation (COA) and state licensing requirements. This position ensures all safety measures are maintained to ensure risk preventative measures are being implemented.

HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt

  • Regular hours entail Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
  • Must be flexible outside of scheduled hours to meet program needs
  • 24/7 on call support
  • Must be available to work afternoons, evenings and weekends may be required

FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee all ORR reporting, as it relates to Notices of Concerns, grievances, OTIP referrals, ORR National Call Center alerts and COA standards
  • Train staff on incident reporting process, Safety principles, procedures and protocols including on-site and in the community, Risk prevention measures, and federal and state regulations
  • Assess incidents and conduct investigations as needed and ensure appropriate follow up with all local, state and federal entities.
  • Present investigative dialogue to CQI team and program leadership for discussion
  • Elevates all reports related to minors in crisis and ensures comprehensive safety plans are in place for all Unaccompanied Children (UAC) identified
  • Meet all deadlines required by ORR, state licensing and federal partners as related to incident reporting and notifications
  • Actively participate as a program resource in monthly Incident Review Committee meetings by providing incident updates and information relating to program policy, processes and oversight regulation
  • Create the agenda for the monthly Incident Review Committee meetings, take meeting minutes and facilitate follow up recommendations to program for response
  • Reviews staff’s compliance with oversight and state regulations and through departmental collaboration, report on findings to improve processes and functions in efforts to ensure overall safety
  • Ensure grievance process is in compliance with regulations and ensures appropriate follow up
  • Develop a reporting system to identify trends, training needs and develop training with program leadership.
  • Responsible for presenting reports to the leadership members and CQI Department
  • In consultation with the clinicians, make decisions affecting the safety and well being of children served and provide guidance to the national team
  • Monitor cases to ensure staff engage each child and the family/sponsor in the caseload
  • Monitor critical cases and provide support to ensure that cases progress toward risk reduction, achieve treatment goals and positive case outcomes
  • Work independently to manage the incident reporting systems and safety processes for the HSPRS program
  • Perform other duties as requested by your immediate supervisor, the Vice President of HSPRS, Senior and Executive leadership or the Chief Executive Officer.
Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Three years relevant experience required
  • Experience in child welfare strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with ORR and other relevant federal, municipal and state agencies strongly preferred
  • Strong skills in analyzing and interpreting federal and state regulations with the ability to implement into program policy and processes through staff training and departmental collaboration
  • Strong skills in Google Suite including Drive, Sheets, Docs, Word, and relevant applications.
  • Ability to work well with diverse cultures, non-English speakers, and families without legal status.
  • Bi-lingual - English and Spanish language required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency is required. The position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing and reading proficiency
  • Ability to travel extensively, both via ground and air, required
  • Ability to work after hours/weekends to provide on call support as needed and assist with flagging sponsor/sponsor address and ORR National Call Center alerts
  • The strong ability to independently initiate and engage in cross departmental collaboration
  • Valid driver’s license in a state located within the assigned region
