The Title:

Packaging Team Support, Level 1Packaging Department

The Role:Packaging team members are responsible for effectively working with their team to follow daily work instructions. The Packaging Department is responsible topacking product for our restaurants forfor grocery stores.Initially, work will consist of very specific tasks, but there is the potential to learn how to operate machinery and advance in your role. You willhelp setup the packaging lines, feed production equipment, place packaged products in bins, and participate in the end-of shift sanitation and cleaning activities. You will follow company recipes and procedures to ensure production consistency. You will follow quality and safety standards. You will also coordinate with team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient production.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Help setup the Packaging area and equipment.
  • Move staged packaging materials from the warehouse to the packaging area.
  • Help move mixed product from the cooler to the packaging lines.
  • Visually inspect packaged product and ensure product is properly labeled and packaged.
  • Perform regular inspections of product weights, dates, labels, and seals.
  • You will carefully place packaged products in collapsible bins.
  • Occasionally, you will shovel ice into bins with product to help cooling.
  • You will help move bins with packaged product to the cooler using a pump jack.
  • You will help with general cleanup between products and at the end of the production shift.
  • You will also help prepare for future production by opening cased products in the warehouse or in the cooler.
  • You will work with your team to ensure timely and efficient production.
  • You will learn all of the positions in the department.
  • You will learn how to properly document packaging activities.
  • You will learn and follow all food safety, employee safety, and Good Manufacturing Procedures.
  • You will be given the opportunity to become a machine operator and learn an important trade, food manufacturing.
  • Abide by policies and procedures that support the service mindset 
  • Take initiative on designated responsibilities without needing reminders from managers

The Qualifications:

  • You must be able to begin work between 6:30am and 7am Monday Through Thursday and you must be able to work up to 11 hours per day. We target 4 days and 40 hours.
  • You must demonstrate proper clock management and maintainstrong attendance.
  • You must be be able to read and follow packaging instructions and procedures (in English or Spanish) to ensure the batches are made correctly.
  • You must maintain close concentration and visual attention to assigned tasks.
  • You must be willing and able to follow instructions.
  • You must have good verbal communication skills.
  • You must be willing and able to work efficiently and with alacrity.
  • You must have some familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and email.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical dexterity, ability to lift up to 45lbsand push/pull rolling bowls, carts, and containers with up to 550 lbs of product.
  • The ability to work in varied environmental conditions (dry, cold)
  • The ability to stand and work on feet for 8 to 10 hours at a time
  • Must be able to identify, assess and observe detail 
  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively. 
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend and twist
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
Allergens: We prepare products with milk and sesame containing ingredients. Team members must be able to work with these ingredients.
