Hours:
Variable start times between 0530 and 1200. 3- 10.5 hr shifts and 1- 7.5 hr shift per week
Summary:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the pre-operative, operative and post-operative phases. She or he anticipates the needs of the patient and surgical team, providing services according to the standards of professional nursing practices while maintaining a safe environment for the patient. She or he also participates in patient teaching and provides leadership by working with ancillary personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION

• Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
• Current Registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York
• BLS training required
• Bachelors Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

• One (1) year of previous RN experience required.
• One (1) year of previous ambulatory surgery, PACU experience preferred.
• Within ninety (90) days of beginning a job in Ambulatory Surgery Unit, the employee will complete the Arrhythmia Interpretation course.
• ACLS received one (1) year of starting a position in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit.
• For existing RNs achievement within two (2) years of the effective date of the agreement.
• PALS preferred and recommended.

WORKING CONDITIONS
ENVIRONMENT

• Intermittent exposure to a few unpleasant physical conditions when in Pre-hold or PACU.
• Frequent exposure too many disagreeable physical conditions when in the Operating Room.
• Flexibility in scheduling hours in order to meet the demands of Surgery Center operations.
