Work Schedule: Days and Evenings
Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm/8:30am to 4:30pm/9:00am to 5:00pm/Monday-Friday, possible Saturday based on needs of department
Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant provides assistance to providers in preparing for patient examinations and clinical procedures. Preparation for patient exams and clinical procedures include acquiring the patient's weight, blood pressure, heart rate and EKG to give to the provider for their review. The Medical Office Assistant will also be responsible for providing all support functions to include scheduling, registration/receptionist services for the Cardiology Clinic.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant, or completed an equivalent training programrequired
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. required
- Credential as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
- One (1) year secretarial/receptionist experience in a hospital, primary care clinic or physician's office required. If there are no applicants with one year of experience, the Hospital will then consider applicants who possess working knowledge of medical terminology, basic patient care and medical office practice and procedures acquired through a school program required.
- Two (2) year of experience in a medical office setting as a Medical Office Assistant preferred.

- Obtain, communicate and record Vitals (Heart Rate, Blood Pressure and Weight) in EMR

- May be exposed to toxic chemicals (i.e. photocopier)
- Subject to many interruptions, varying and unpredictable situations
- Increased pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements
- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
- Handles emergency or crisis situations, absent replacement on short notice
- May perform emergency care
- Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
- Flexibility in scheduled working hours/days to meet needs of department
- Days and hours may change to meet the needs of the position
