Summary:
The Surgical Scheduler, Perioperative Services is a member of the Perioperative Team whose primary responsibility is scheduling surgical procedures and data entry of required information. The position is responsible for identifying required personnel, supplies, equipment and support needed for work procedure and communication of findings. The Surgical Scheduler works with physicians, their offices and other departments in a user-friendly manner in order to prepare an efficient Operating Room schedule. Additional responsibilities include surgical case scheduling, EMR auditing, case charging/billing, and operational support within the Operating Room.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
  • High School graduate
  • Associate's Degree Preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience in scheduling medical/surgical procedures or operating room technician experience
  • Recent computer experience required including Windows
  • SMMR's (Surgical Material Management Requisition) experience preferred
  • Billing for OR/GI/Day procedure unit/ASU experience preferred
  • Post case data entry experience preferred
  • Scheduling- Proficient with PICIS scheduling product experience preferred
  • Experience in data entry in excel spreadsheets preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
  • Medical terminology required
  • Recent computer experience required including Windows
  • Typing skills of 35 wpm required
  • Recent knowledge of computer systems
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to handle very stressful situations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented
