The principal duties and responsibilities of a third-grade teacher are:
(a) supporting the unique Catholic mission of the school
(b) living a life of word, action, and attitude that is consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church
(c) possessing and communicating a thorough mastery of the subject matter to be taught
(d) integrating the great truths of God's love into the instructional day
(e) guiding the students toward a habit of prayer
(f) preparing sound lesson plans that advance students toward mastery of the school and diocesan curriculum
(g) possessing and teaching those habits of organization that optimize classroom atmosphere and maximize effective time on task
(h) using effective virtue-based methods of classroom management and, where necessary, of classroom discipline
(i) consistently and effectively evaluating student performance
(j) working collaboratively and joyfully with the administration of the parish and school, with fellow faculty and staff members, and with parents
(k) maintaining confidences and displaying sound judgment in dress, language, and demeanor
The desired candidate for the position in a school of the Catholic Diocese of Lansing is a practicing Catholic, actively involved in parish life. The desired candidate is currently certified (or readily certifiable) as a Michigan teacher, and can effectively serve as the instructional leader of a classroom.
