Catholic Diocese Of Fort Worth is Hiring a Director Near Weatherford, TX

The Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas includes 90 Parishes, 1 Mission, and 19 schools. It stretches from Quanah, Texas just Northwest of Wichita Falls in the West and extends to Penelope, Texas in the Southeast. Its largest metropolitan areas are Fort Worth, Arlington, Denton, and Wichita Falls. It has approximately 914,556 Catholics in the Diocese, including 108 Priests, 86 Deacons, and 77 Sisters. The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Youth Ministry provides primary leadership for the design and implementation of parish ministry to its youth, as well as develop and maintain a campus ministry outreach to Weatherford College.

REPORTS TO:
Pastorand Business Manager CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, develop and implement a schedule of social opportunities for the youth (6-12 grades) of the parish to form community identity and establish peer relationships within the parish community.
Plan, develop and implement a schedule of social opportunities for the Catholic college students at Weatherford College to form community identity and establish peer relationships within the college and parish community.
Plan, develop and implement a schedule of service activities for the youth (7-12 grades) of the parish to develop their sense of responsibility to and awareness of the needs of the parish community and the Diocesan church community and the larger social community.
Keep youth and parents informed of Diocesan programs, social, service and retreat opportunities through distribution of a calendar of scheduled activities.
Obtain, when necessary, parental support and consent for activities, in particular those involving travel outside the parish boundaries.
Recruit adult youth leaders to maintain adequate supervision and provide for safety at all times.
Plan, develop and implement catechetical programs for parish youth and catechetical components of youth catechumenate, candidate initiation and confirmation preparation.
Where appropriate, refer youth and parents to suitable updated reading and resource materials for youth spiritual and catechetical information and enrichment.
Maintain current catechist and youth ministry Diocesan certification and attend formation programs.
Maintain current records for all youth participating in programs and all adult leaders.
Manage youth ministry budget.
Organize and supervise suitable fundraising activities in consultation with the Business Manager.
Provide supervisor with timely program activity reports and evaluations.
Recruit youth to attend diocesan training for liturgical ministries allowing them to serve as lector and/or Extra-ordinary minister for the parish.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Active member of the Roman Catholic Church, in good standing and faithful to the Magisterium. Knowledge / ability to share Catholic faith to youth.
Paraprofessional helping/counseling listening skills, crisis intervention and referral skills, group processing and facilitation skills.
Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, planning, and budgeting.
Must have the ability / experience to design and implement a variety of youth-oriented programs.
Ability to work with parents and children of all ages.
Successful completion of the Parish Safe Environment process.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Knowledge of adolescent / pre-teen spiritual /personal development, youth cultures and sociology.
Skilled at Public speaking
Skilled at strategic planning
Intermediate proficiency with Excel, Word, Publisher
Competence with presentation software and Audio/Video Control and equipment
Licensing and Copyright awareness

WORKING CONDITIONS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in a typical office environment, on stage in front of youth and other locations off site but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding youth and family needs, tight deadlines, and heavy workloads.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Limited, 1-3 times per year
