Job Summary Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Currently there are campuses in Akron, Lyndhurst, Westlake and soon to be Brecksville (open Fall 2024) that offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non-public schools that respect diverse faith traditions. The accountant performs daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities for the JB Network according to generally accepted accounting principles. The accountant will assist the Chief Financial Officer and JB Leadership with the ongoing financial management of the school. Additionally, this position analyzes and prepares informational data for school budgets and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties to be assigned as needed. General Accounting / Financial Statement Preparation Assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements, including variance analysis Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations Prepares and posts monthly journal entries to the general ledger. Ensures proper classification of transactions among entities. Analyzes financial information used for decision making. Revenue Cycle Accounting Ensures tuition, summer camp, school fee and aftercare invoicing is correct and timely. Enters credit memos for financial aid. Enters Aftercare charges from FACTS to the general ledger. Makes bank deposits. Beyond Camp Responsible for tracking enrollment to ensure that all participants are invoiced correctly. Manage funding from outside sources to ensure that scholarship funding, county funding, etc. is appropriately applied to accounts. Maintain deferred revenue spreadsheet and ensure proper accounting of camp revenue at year-end. Ensure that receivables are collected prior to the start of camp. Payroll / Benefits Processes bi-weekly payroll. Maintains benefits schedules including H.S.A, RETA Trust, etc. and prepares necessary journal entries to record benefits payments Allocates and reconciles monthly benefits including health insurance, life insurance, workers compensation, and unemployment compensation. Reconciles COBRA payments made via RETA Trust. Manages ACA reporting process at year-end. Accounts Payable Obtains invoice approvals and ensures correct coding of invoices. Ensures that all payments for utilities, leases, copiers, etc. are paid and entered into the general ledger. Processes payables, including printing checks. Handles vendor communications, resolving billing disputes. Reconciles credit card accounts. Obtains W-9s from vendors. Prepares annual 1099s. Budget Assists with annual budget preparation. Assists with annual budget spread and entry in the general ledger. Other Assists with annual audit. Professional Development Participates in continuing education and professional development and other training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to the assignment. Reviews current developments, changing legal requirements, and technical sources of information related to job responsibility. Performs other tasks and duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Controller, President or designee. Periodic overtime may be required to meet established deadlines.

Education, Experience and Qualifications Education / Certifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution Experience Required: Thorough knowledge of GAAP Current knowledge of computer-based accounting software. Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills.

Requires the use of computers and other office equipment.
