Catholic Community Services is Hiring a Youth coordinator Near Salt Lake, UT

Position Title : Refugee Youth Services Coordinator

FLSA Classification : Non-Exempt

Full or part-time status : Full-time , Temporary

Department : Migration and Refugee Services

Reports to : Youth Services Supervisor

Hiring Range : $18.00-$23.00 / hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position

The Refugee Youth Services Coordinator collaborates with the Youth Services Supervisor, Case Managers, and school staff to conduct educational intakes, gather registration documents, and enroll youth clients in school.

This role involves educating families and youth about school rules while emphasizing parental engagement and support for children's education.

The Coordinator also builds relationships with school personnel, including social workers and counselors, and closely coordinates with the Refugee Youth Mentoring Coordinator, volunteers, and students.

Additionally, the position oversees activities for the mentoring program, including mentor match meetings, training, orientation of new mentors, and ongoing mentor support.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Enrollment Coordination : Ensure timely enrollment of school-aged youth within 30 days of arrival and facilitate re-enrollment for subsequent school years.
  • Transportation Orientation : Conduct transportation orientations for students and parents, collaborating with schools and districts for seamless coordination.
  • After-School Program Support : Assist the Youth Services Supervisor in registering and monitoring attendance in after-school and summer programs.
  • Academic Tracking : Assist the supervisor in tracking student grades and attendance, initiating communication with school staff and clients as needed.
  • Documentation Management : Maintain comprehensive case notes and documentation for all client services provided.
  • Volunteer Coordination : Collaborate with CCS volunteers and the volunteer team to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Intake Assistance : Aid the supervisor in conducting initial intakes for program participation.
  • Mentor Program Facilitation : Coordinate meetings to finalize paperwork for mentoring program participation and facilitate introductions between mentors, mentees, and parents.
  • Mentor Support : Provide mentors with activities that foster physical and intellectual development in their mentees.
  • Monitoring Mentoring Relationships : Support and monitor mentors and their mentees throughout their service.
  • Grant Reporting Preparation : Assist the supervisor in preparing the required grant reports.
  • Attendance Monitoring : Monitor all mentoring program students' attendance, reporting to the Refugee Youth Services Supervisor and promptly addressing absences.
  • Issue Reporting : Immediately report students, staff, volunteers, parents, or facility concerns to the Refugee Youth Services Supervisor.
  • Data Accuracy : Ensure accuracy and currency of information in the youth and mentoring table and case files.
  • Meeting Attendance : Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • This position is in a professional office environment using standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Some local travel may be required.

Physical Demands

  • This is primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing, as necessary.
  • This role includes driving locally to mentor match meetings, field trips, and local schools.

  • Displays sensitivity to the needs of clients, clients' families, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, and other persons with whom the employee may interact.
  • Recognizes time as a valuable resource and responds promptly to the needs of clients and co-workers. Consistently performs work assignments in a time-efficient manner.

Adheres to deadlines.

  • Proficient in English oral and written communication.
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding clients.
  • Proficiency in computer skills to maintain financial data, spreadsheets, databases, scheduling, and e-mail in Outlook.
  • Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, compassion, and graciousness in helping clients assess and face their situations and accepting assistance.

Education, Training, and Experienc e

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience working with youth.

Background Screening Requirements

Must pass a national BCI / FBI background check.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials

Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.

Position status and expected schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 am to 5 : 00 pm, sometimes after 5 : 00 if conducting mentor training or on weekends for quarterly activities.
