Join our team as a Lead Clinician! As a  Lead Clinician for St. Michael’s Home for Children (SMHC) ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­you are responsible for providing individual and group clinical consultation. You will provide administrative oversight for the clinical responsibilities. You are responsible for monitoring and meeting productivity targets and quality assurance goals.  You will verify the SMHC clinical team meets documentation requirements consistently, by reviewing documentation to ensure it is completed thoroughly, correctly, and in a timely manner. You are responsible for promoting client safety through clinical assessment, treatment team consultation, and safely planning, as well as, the clinical team’s response to significant incidents including, proper reporting to all required/appropriate authorities and adherence to all other related policies, procedures, and practices. You ensure proper coverage is available at all times for both program shelters and maintains an on-call schedule of clinical coverage for the program. You also, provide limited individual and group counseling and psychoeducational services to children and families. You routinely participates in the program’s weekly treatment team meetings, develops trainings for staff, and responsible for other leadership duties as assigned.

This position will also require the individual to have a solid foundation in trauma informed care and a systems approach to problem solving.   • Master’s degree in mental health field, (Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy).
  • Licensed by the State of Texas (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LPC Associate or LMFT, LMFT Associate) and in good standing with the respective board.

The Skills and Assets You Bring, and More

  • You have 2 years experience in a supervisory role.
  • You are Bilingual (English/Spanish).You have experience providing individual, family, and group counseling services (required, at least individual).
  • You have experience providing services to the survivors of trauma
  • You have the ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team and demonstrates effective interpersonal skills in dealing with a variety of clients, peers, and supervisors in the workplace.
  • It is preferred that you have the ability to speak in public speaking ability, including the ability to provide presentations and workshops to large audiences. 
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • You have a clear understanding of cultural sensitivity, trauma informed care and implications for practice.
  • You work with a positive attitude (solution–focused) and exhibits professional behavior at all times.
  • You have the ability and willingness to understand, incorporate, and practice new theoretical perspectives and treatment strategies (preferred)
  • You experience managing service related information for tracking and reporting purposes, e.g. outcomes (preferred)

What you Deliver

  • You provide individual and group clinical consultation to the clinical staff of SMHC, including Masters Level interns. Clinical consultations will focus on assessing potential mental health needs including history, presenting issues, therapy goals while in shelter care, need for safety plan, coordination of care including psychiatry and psychological evaluation, medication management and developing after care plans in collaboration with the potential sponsor.
  • You will Co-lead the pre-treatment team meetings, and facilitate strength based and trauma informed care (both intervention and prevention strategies) discussion regarding youth’s behavior, symptoms, and potential sponsor’s ability to support the clients emotionally.
  • You will ensure clinical staff and intern(s) participate in and execute abuse risk management responsibilities, as recommended by program stakeholders and state and professional licensing boards.
  • You actively promotes the clinical team’s professional development and adherence to new policies and procedures implemented by program stakeholders.
  • You contributes to the development of discharge plans for clients as they transition out of the St. Michael’s Home for Children Program.
  • You provide administrative oversight for the responsibilities assigned to the SMHC clinical team, including ensuring productivity and quality assurance targets/goals.
  • You manage, develop, and update documentation, tools, and systems used to gather and report on services rendered.
  • You ensure the SMHC clinical team meets all documentation requirements including: completing documentation of client progress within required timeframes; maintaining client records in accordance with regulatory/agency standards.
  • You complete data entry tasks associate with tracking measurable outcomes and management of staff performance.
  • You maintain personnel binders with documented supervision notes.
  • You attend and participates in staff meetings held by SMHC and the Counseling Services Program.
  • You work in collaboration with SMHC Program Director, Assistant Program Director as well as other team Leads. Also, attends stakeholders meetings hosted by ORR.
  • You provide individual and group counseling and psychoeducational services to children and families in compliance with professional licensing standards, agency standards, COA standards, ORR requirements, and HIPPA. 
  • You direct client service delivery includes the following clinical duties: conducting assessments, documenting diagnostic impressions, developing and implementing treatment plans and interventions, assessing risk and safety needs, and providing appropriate referrals as needed.
  • You participate in on-call rotation for the facility, and routinely attends training opportunities as required by the program and professional license.
  • You direct clinical services will be provided on an as needed basis.
  • You routinely participates in ongoing training. Maintains professional licensing requirements.
  • You regularly meets with assigned supervisor for clinical and administrative supervision. 
  • You provide trainings and presentations as required by ORR, State Licensing standards, or in promotion of agency/program initiatives.
  • You perform other duties as required such as participation in staff retreats, agency fairs and speaking engagements, assists with special agency or program projects/events, etc.
  • You perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
